Bedore's Notebook
I didn’t know Self plans on Merv Lindsay attending prep school. Guess he’s hoping that he’ll re-commit next year.
www.oreadboomkings.fantake.com
Did they change the article?
I think he just said that was going to be Lindsay’s plan, up until he exploded on the AAU scene and got discovered…
I ran a quick errand last night and had the radio on and heard some KU talk show (in place of Hawk Talk, I guess?), in which they were interviewing Merv. They asked him what percentage he shot from three in HS and he said 43-44%. I’m hardly suggesting that he’ll come in and shoot that way this year, but I do think he’s going to turn into a real nice piece – maybe even soon.

You're right.
I read it wrong. Said he was probably going to do prep. That makes more sense with the Teahan comment a little later.

The nestea ad in the background of this is incredibly annoying

2 girls in bikinis?
I’ve certainly seen far worse.

I must have a firewall on the ad...
I see no such thing.

Just blank borders then?
On the left I have a brunette drinking a bottle of nestea while sitting on a dock in a bikini. On the right is a blond with her back turned jumping into a lake.

Well problem is I'm at work
And women in bikinis on a website… well, people probably wouldn’t think too highly of that if they walked by my cubicle…yanmean

go to wide view....
I always use the wide view on SBNation sites. I think it reads better and it tends to cover up almost all of the border ads. I’ve only got a sliver on both sides about a half inch wide.

Depends on the monitor.
If Grad is using a widescreen monitor wide view won’t change much. Doesn’t on mine anyway.

Yeah I got a widescreen...

I have a wide screen, and am using wide view...
I see no ads now, nor have I ever on this site. There is some water at the very bottom of this page, if I scroll all the way down…
by hiphopopotamus on Jun 28, 2011 11:05 AM CDT up reply actions
I have it on chrome (not maximized)...
and the width that I have it set at conveniently centers on the commentary and links portion of the page. Strangely enough, there isn’t even a bar on the bottom to where I could pan left or right and see it. I just find that a smaller window is easier to hide behind work functions since all I have to do is click on an exposed portion of a spreadsheet and it’s all hidden.
My laptop is wide screen
and when I have RCT in wide view I cant see the side ads. But my work monitor is a 20" wide screen and even in wide view I can see the side ads. Oh well.
www.oreadboomkings.fantake.com
That is exactly what mine is at the orfice
Too bad. Its just easier to hide when its just blue on the sides, but the ads are too much of a giveaway.
I know sb nation needs ad revenue, but I wonder if these lead to a decrease in hits and page views. I am the biggest dork on this site (don’t tell me I’m not!) and am on here constantly, yet today I think I got on twice in the morning and that was it, and I probably will shy away tomorrow.
Be interesting to see if there are others like me. I’m all about this crap since I’m a marketing guy and… well, a dork

Does your boss or IT dept. track what sites you visit?
Mine does, which is why I’m relegated to checking the site with my phone during the day.
Don't think so, no ones said anything and I've been here a year...

Mine doesn't unless something hits the filter with boobs or something similar.
Of course, our IT dept has thousands of students to monitor so teachers are pretty free at the sites that aren’t blocked.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.
Rock Chalk Talk
mobile device ftw
No ads whatsoever. Of course, I also can’t rec things, or post anything, and new comments aren’t highlighted, and it takes me forever to type stuff…but yeah, no ads.
I guess your boss doesn’t monitor Internet use like mine does?

Firefox with AdBlock Plus add-on, I see no ads anywhere. One of the primary reasons I switched to Firefox actually

There was a definite argument for...
either Leonard or Singleton. Both are going to play the 3 and both will be excellent defenders. But neither of them can shoot it one bit. Maybe they’ll develop it someday and become Bruce Bowen, but that’s a best case scenario. And it’s a very real possibility that neither ever learns to shoot the ball.
Whatever you think of the pick personally, no one can be surprised that stat-driven Daryl Morey took an efficient scorer like Marcus. He won’t be an all-star, but he will figure out how to score from either position. And while I don’t ever see him excelling on defense – probably too small to guard big fours and too slow to guard quick threes – he shouldn’t get abused on a nightly basis either.

I'm liking this quote
from Eamon Brennan’s ESPN story on TRob (link)
it’s not easy to step into a gym with Sullinger, Yarou, Oriakhi, Mason and Miles Plumlee and even touted Kentucky freshman Anthony Davis and look like the best player on the floor. That’s what Robinson did Saturday
That’s the kind of stuff I want to hear. I hope the rest of the team can keep up.
