Changing of the guard: Torbush retires from KU football; co-defensive coordinators step up | KUsports.com
Familiar faces in new places. A lot of postive things being said about Shealy over the last 24 hours.
Retiring Carl Torbush preaches patience | KUsports.com
"I know people don’t want to hear it, but they need to hear it," Torbush said. "I know boyfriends and girlfriends who don’t even talk to each other. They text to each other. I call it the MTV society. Everything is, ‘What have you done for me lately?’ and, ‘Make it work right now.’ The days of real, true patience are gone."
KU coach Turner Gill would be wise to promote Vic Shealy and hire Clint Bowen | KUsports.com
I think this was kicked around here yesterday, not sure what to think about it. Bowen was loyal and did a nice job recruiting while on Mangino's staff, but I wonder if either side would consider it at this juncture.

McGary Has UConn Options; Cummins to Harvard | ZagsBlog.com
McGary is a Kansas target and UConn might try to bring him in a year early. Duke has done this recently as well and it seems to be an emerging trend with the elite players.

Sports Illustrated investigation on Jim Tressel, Ohio State - SI.com - Magazine
Sounds like the issues run pretty deep. Kind of makes me wonder about the timing of the Big 10's discussion to pay players.
Report: NCAA launches separate probe of Ohio State QB Terrelle Pryor - ESPN
Sounds like Pryor's Heisman campaign could be derailed before it ever begins.

Just one paragraph from a piece on Tressel (by an OSU sympathizer)
Tressel departs Ohio State not as a liar; not as a manipulator and certainly not as a cheater. He leaves a man that cared for people—especially his players—and it’s being that man that got him into trouble. He was a man that is larger than life, yet always smaller than the company he kept.
It amazes me how loyal, head stuck in the sand, and irrational some people can be in situations like this. Instead of looking at all the of the evidence and coming to the logical conclusion of “we were duped”, some are still holding Tressel up as a guy that just let it slip away from him a bit.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

Am I the only one fascinated by this?

It's not really surprising.
Hell, Alabama already put up a statue of Saban.

I think his boring demeanor & sweater vest style
seemed to delude people into thinking he had to be an honest, salt of the earth kind of character. Fans get something in their head and seem unwilling to give up their illusions.

Thing is...
If Bill Self got caught in a scandal, I’d see the Jayhawk Nation supporting/sympathizing for him. I could be wrong on this, and it would depend on the scandal.

Hell Bill Self could murder someone and I would be okay with it
As long they were from missouri. :)
It's not that I'm lazy; it's that I just don't care. (#739)
It's definitely possible and I've wondered how I'd react to it happening to HCBS.
In my mind, I tell myself that with all of this evidence there’s no way I’d be able to continue to support him. Never know though and just cross our fingers that we never have to find out.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

i totally agree...
That’s why I added it depends on the scandal. Like you said, let’s hope we never have to worry about it.

I wonder if Ohio State is going to regret not sticking with Tressel and taking their lumps together
He resigned (forced or not) to try to shoulder the blame so OSU wouldn’t have to. But OSU is in trouble no matter what. So why not keep Tressel on, take the scholarship decrease, miss a couple bowl games, even have Tressel suspended for 8 or 10 games and donate his entire salary. At least they’d still have Tressel. Now they’re going to have lighter punishments but have to deal with finding a new coach.
Unless that coach is Urban Meyer. But even then, he doesn’t seem sure he wants to coach in the long run, so that is less than a sure thing.

Whose to say
tOSU doesn’t have additional incriminating evidence that hasn’t been made public yet? I get the impression that only the tip of the iceberg has been seen in this deal. The whole thing is starting to unravel. They probably forced Tressel to resign before more incriminating and embarrassing details emerge (like Tressel paying the players directly out of his checking account, or sleeping with their moms, or some crazy sh*t like that…..not saying Tressel did any of these things, but once you detemine that someone is a liar (and Tressel has been proven to be that), you never know how far the deception reaches).
build a damn football program, beat some ass, and get on tv more.
