NBADRAFT.NET is reporting that Thomas Robinson is going to the NBA!
Anybody think this is accurate? I don't know how I feel about it, but I was certainly counting on Trob being an integral part of the team next year, and if we lose him and the twins it will almost certainly be a rebuilding year. I do wish Trob the best, but I think that one more year with the team would absolutely serve him well, and next year he could become a superstar. This news is pretty devastating especially following yesterday's loss.

I don't put much stock in this at all.
I heard the report last week, too, but you never know with these kids. I’ll avoid speculating until the deadline passes, after which it won’t be speculating any more. I trust that HCBS will be able to put a competitive team on the court next year, no matter who we have on the team.
That was...disappointing.
This may be a dumb question (it is a dumb question)
But when is the deadline?

Deadline for Underclassman declaration
is April 24. Last day to withdraw from the draft is May 8.
That was...disappointing.
Can't he declare for a draft, but not hire an agent?
Thats what Rush did. He could declare, not like his stock, and still return

I thought Rush withdrawed because of his injury?
Or did his injury come after that?

I would not be suprised if he did leave early
but I’m not sure how much I buy into the articles “sources”
The good news is, the Guards/SF's are stacked despite graduating 2 starters
Travis Releford
Josh Selby
Tyshawn Taylor
Elijah Johnson
Royce Woolridge
(and maybe MacLemore)
The post players, on the other hand, will be in big trouble without M&M and TRob:
Jeff Withey
and …
….
walkon Justin Wesley (6’8", 200) (who does have a good bloodlines, though)

Selby's not a given
I know we all think he needs another year but we don’t know where his heart is on this subject.
Unless you are a projected lottery pick
You have no business declaring for the draft. Selby is going to be really really good next year. yeah he was disappointing this season but with a season under his belt and a summer of training, yeah. he will be good
I don't disagree
but he certainly wouldn’t be the first college basketball player to make that mistake. Or even the hundredth. I’m not saying he should go, only that we have no idea if he will.
Again people, we just have to wait
A lot of guys will declare and test the waters but not hire an agent. And if their status isn’t what they want, they will come back.
It just sucks that we won’t know for a while
Shit happens when you win championships
I remember some website saying that the twins tried it last year.
Then withdrew after like 2 days.

if that's true, don't you only get one time to withdraw?
The second time you declare it’s for keeps right?

it's all well and good
to say that he could declare without an agent and then come back if he doesn’t like where he is evaluated. But if he does put his name out there, he’s not coming back. He’ll be taken before anyone else on the team if he declares.
Testing the waters
Trob could test the waters, but you can only do that one time which would severly handcuff him next year if he wanted to test the waters again he would then have to go. I am just worried that we will be to thin with the bigs, but then again HCBS has been known to pull of some recruiting coups
I could be wrong
but my guess is that if this article has any truth to it, T-Rob is not interested in testing the waters. Because of his family situation, it seems like this is probably financially motivated. If that’s the case, he’s probably prepared to leave just to get as much money as he can right now, regardless of where he’s told he’ll be drafted.

Well,
That same website says that Tristan Thompson from Texas has hired an agent. Problem is, they got the wrong Tristan Thompson. The one that hired an agent is the one from North Texas. Difficult to put much credibility in a post when the very first thing they talk about has the wrong player, from the wrong team, with the wrong picture.

This guy would know
His name is Triston as well

Players tend not to develop much in the NBA game if they aren't either a starter or the #1 backup
NBA teams typically practice once or twice a week during the season. During those practices, the 1s scrimmage against the 2s… and everyone else can go play 1 v 1 or 2 v 2 on their own. If you’re stuck in that group, you just can’t get used to the NBA game.
T-Rob still has things to work on. He needs to become more consistent with his jumpshot, and develop a more complete low post game. He’s a poor free throw shooter, and struggles with foul trouble. If he does enter the draft, he needs to find a team where he’ll play early and often. If he gets stuck behind, say, Love/Darko/Randolph in Minnesota, it will be extremely difficult for him to have a long-term NBA career.

Love is the man.
Some of the better NBA teams would turn into champions if they landed him. Imagine if the heat went out and got Kevin Love to add to their soft offensive minded front line of Bosh and Miller?
What if the Knickerboppers got Love to play along side Stoudemire?
Minny has been prone to make stupid decisions (drafting Rubio, then Johnny Flynn, with players like Seth Curry and Brandon Jennings on the board). They are also prone to trading away all-stars for .60 cent on the dollar (Kevin Garnett to Minnesota). Could happen…

this
Is exactly what happened to Darnell Jackson. He was buried on Cleveland’s depth chart those first two years when he should have been developing. Now he can barely find any PT even with Sacramento.
by PenguinHawk on Mar 31, 2011 6:28 AM CDT via mobile up reply actions
Yep.
And Simien is about a perfect example of this. Was buried behind vets on the Heat and wasn’t even able to show what he could do in scrimmages.
It would be neat if T-Rob is drafted by the wizards. Not only would he be playing back home in front of Jayla, but he also could be starting almost immediately for them.

Agreed.
I think he has D League written all over him right now.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

FWIW
A friend of mine in LA claims he saw T-Rob there with the Morris twins this week. While that doesn’t necessarily prove anything, I would suggest we start preparing to lose all three. I’m sure HCBS is, just to be safe.
6 open roster spots and only one commit by the start of April. Ouch!

Unless Self can pull a rabbit out of his hat
next year may be the worst frontcourt in recent KU history. We’d almost have to have to go with four guards.
I still have a shred of hope for him
With another year of Manning’s tutelage and perhaps an extra 20 pounds he may become useful. The problem is I said the exact same thing before this season. At one time I thought he may turn into a poor man’s Cole Aldrich. Now I’m wondering if he won’t become a homeless man’s Eric Chenowith.
I have images of Manning working WIthey into the ground all summer
Just in the fieldhouse, lights dimmed, just beating the living sh*t out of him to make him a tough, capable post man.
And then standing over him at a buffet and watching him shove hoards of food in his mouth.
Anything less than this and were screwed
Shit happens when you win championships
I just shed some tears.
Not only did we miss a wide open chance to go to the final 4, but we may not have another chance in 3 years.
