-The Committee noted a concern of the injury rate on kickoffs so they've proposed moving the kickoff from the 30 to the 35-yard line and moving the touchback from 20 to the 25-yard line. That would mean less kickoff returns which would then mean less injuries.
This doesn't make sense to me. Moving the touchback line to the 25 would decrease the benefits of touchbacks, right? Why not reward teams for kicking it into the end zone? If they really want to decrease returns, adopt the high school rule of any ball that crosses the goal line becomes an automatic touchback.
