KU basketball must do more heavy lifting this season - KansasCity.com
"Men’s basketball has to be good here," Bill Self says. "Has to be." It speaks to the standards of Kansas basketball that, even with the 10th game of the season Monday at the Sprint Center, nobody can be sure yet whether this Jayhawks team is good enough.

Mellinger's column was just bizarre
EIA data isn’t really standardized enough to do the sort of program-level school-to-school comparison that he’s doing, but even if that were valid, I don’t see why there’s more pressure on KU to do well this year than in past years. I certainly don’t think fans’ expectations are as high this year as last.
Going to the game tonight
but it will be my first trip to the Sprint Center. Does anyone have any parking suggestions or any other tips?

Park in the Constetino's parking garage.
It’s right across from the midland theater. It’s only like a block away and parking is usually quite a bit cheaper during sprint center events.
There's also a parking garage just north of the P&L block that's pretty easy to get in and out of.
Can’t remember the cost but it wasn’t too bad, might be crowded depending on how early you get there.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

Kansas City
being Kansas City they massively overplanned the parking situation so there are a lot of good spots. The Constentino’s garage or the lot at 12th and baltimore are my go-to spots. Walking a little more is very much worth it when it comes time to leave.
Am I the only one who can spell Cosentino's?

Ellis Island
should have fixed it for us all.
Also my first trip to the Sprint Center
I hadn’t even considered about where to park. I’ve gotten spoiled by good public transit in DC. Thanks for all the tips from everyone.
IF you want to go the public transit route, the MAX runs from Brookside (I believe) up to the River Market.
As good as you’ll get in KC.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

Yep
either MAX line will take you there. Park in Waldo, Brookside or the plaza and hop on the Main line. I believe the last pickup from the power and light that will get you to brookside and waldo is 15 minutes or so before midnight so don’t linger after the game. There’s a later bus that takes you to the plaza but doesn’t go further south.
Unless you’re planning to drink driving really isn’t inconvenient enough to worry too much about it.
It's more the cost of parking that gave me pause
I’m too cash-strapped to drink much at the game, but the Max bus is a good idea for a day when the weather isn’t quite so miserable. I don’t think I can convince my wife to wait for the bus in this weather.
thanks for all the parking suggestions
The Main St entrance to the Cosentino’s lot was closed, so we parked at the Midland Theater.
And now, I will never go back. What an awful game.

no love for any of the marios?

This is officially my nerdiest post!
For my money, Techmo Bowl and Techmo Super Bowl are easily the best football games EVER, trumping Madden and anything from EA. The beauty is the simplicity. Eight plays is all anyone needs to for a badass game! Plus, their halftime show is classic.
For anyone who wants to play Techmo or any of Nintendo’s classics, check out www.nesforever.com and you can play any of their games for free.
I remember Techmo Super Bowl fondly
However it did cause me to cough-up some money to Ellsworth Hall, as I believe I put a foot through a trashcan in frustration one time.
there are also
Some awesome ROMs that have NCAA seasons in the tecmo games. It’s pretty awesome.

I was pretty fond of Mario 3 at the time.
Didn’t have the staying power of Tecmo Super Bowl though. First game that I can remember that tracked season stats, player health, and all that. RBI Baseball would be a close second.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

Not a big hockey fan
but some of the NHL Hockey series from EA were great. As is 2kSports College Hoops 2k8. Still can’t believe they stopped making that one.
as far as sports games go
pro is the only way to go. Its ridiculous in College Hoops 2k8 they have #15 as a black point guard from anchorage alaska starting for kansas with some crazy name. Name him Mario chalmers and give him a couple bucks. but thats a whole ’nother discussion.
As for SNES greatest game ever was Zelda. end of discussion
You can download the real rosters
pretty easily through xbox live. College Hoops 2k8 was the best basketball game of all time.
Zelda Ocarina of Time is the greatest N64 game ever made. Dunno bout SNES...
Its up there.
For n64, here is my top 10:
Zelda
Mario Kart
Goldeneye
Mario
Rogue Squadron
Super Smash Bros
Perfect Dark
Star Fox
Wave Race
International Superstar Soccer
For SNES… I dunno. Here’s my take:
Super Mario Bros
Super Mario All Stars (had like 4 games in one, awesome).
Tecmo Super Bowl
NHL 94
Zelda: A Link to the Past
Ninja Tutles (3? One I remember being better than the rest and super hard).
CONTRA
Street Fighter
Kirby
Donkey Kong (the one that was like a Mario style game)
Mario Cart
Just did that off the top of my head, mostly my favorites. I miss those days, the days of my youth.

Some good options there for N64
but it’s a travesty you don’t have NBA Hangtime on there

NOOOOO NBA Hangtime!
Horrible omission! I’d go back in time and add it if I could.

if you remember Perfect Dark as an RPG…
rpg = role playing game (think final fantasy)
perfect dark is a fps (first person shooter)

I'm going to go out on a limb and say that FIFA 11 or 12 is the best sports sim ever made
In terms of realistically presenting what actually occurs in a game and leads to success in that game.

Actually, Frank, you do take a backseat to someone
Its KU. The team that finishes ahead of you, and everyone else in the Big 12, in the standings every single season.
