Tre Parmalee Becomes The First Kansas Football Commitment For Charlie Weis
Charlie Weis was announced as the head coach for Kansas football just under a week ago. Since that time he has been busy recruiting his coaching staff and high school talent. Today Weis lands his first commitment with Bishop Miege athlete Tre Parmalee.

Parmalee comes from a strong football pedigree as his dad is Bernie Parmalee is the current tight ends coach for the Kansas City Chiefs. The elder Parmalee was also on the Notre Dame staff with Weis and obviously the younger Parmalee was coached by new Kansas offensive line coach Tim Grunhard at Bishop Miege.
The connections obviously opened the door for Kansas and made Parmalee reconsider his previous commitment to Northern Illinois. While he hasn't received a lot of attention, the Kansas staff obviously has a very good working knowledge of Parmalee and they were quick to jump at the opportunity to add the local Kansas City talent.

I think I am more impressed with the complete sentence.
The way people write on the internet today is atrocious, so it is a breath of fresh air to see a youth write a coherent and well constructed sentence. Welcome to Kansas, Mr. Parmalee!

But couldn't he at least have said:
University of Kansas?
The name of that song played at KC Comets games in the '80's was Giorgio Moroder's "The Chase." Now you know.
Yes, but it was a minor point in the grand scheme of things. ;)
I mean he actually wrote a complete sentence with proper capitalization and punctuation!

looks pretty small
wes welker!
I write everywhere. You're probably better off following me on twitter
Yeah
But Welker is much faster. This Parmalee kid really didn’t show anything special in those clips. Maybe he’s just a project.

welker also has had the benefit of pro coaching
he only had 1 D1 offer you know

NFL old boy network
If we have a extra scholership OK, but kind of goes with Weis’ chemistry comments in the previous article. Really starting to get a little nagging feeling Weis could be Gill light with a better football mind.
The positive is the more NFL coaches he has that will take his calls,
the more KU stars will get a better look at the next level.
I view this as a situation where...
you have a local player, from a very good local program and he comes from a solid football pedigree. He can play at NIU, might be a late bloomer and the type of kid that works his butt of an overachieves at Kansas because he has something to prove.
I do agree that if we have limited numbers this might feel like a bit of a reach, but we are going to have to scramble a little bit to fill a class and I think it’s going to be a larger class than we originally thought. All in all I think it’s the type of reach I can live with. I mean hell we’ve all been clamoring for the days of Talib, Henry, Kevin Kane etc…all guys with little to no notoriety and they overachieved at Kansas.

Agree with all of this...
and if Doeren wanted him, we want him. Obviously we can all hope for much higher rated, immediate impact guys, but there’s a place for guys like Parmalee too.
p.s. It’s not apples to apples, but look no further than last year with Tyler Lockett. Because we were in on him first, he actually preferred us over KSU. But then we told him…well, we need to wait and see what other commits we get before we can accept yours…and you all know the rest.

I don't know a whole lot about the Lockett situation..
but his dad and uncle played at KSU so I would doubt he would’ve played here anyway..
The quote came from him
I don’t follow recruiting much at all, so I wouldn’t have had a clue otherwise. Could be he wa embellishing, but that’s what he said.

Kevin Lockett was on 810
and said Tyler preferred KU until Gill said that. Pretty awesome.
Yes Owen,
I’m clamoring for the days of Talib, Henry, Kane, etc…..but back then we had a coach who knew how to turn sand into diamonds.
Coach Weis? Well he’s not exactly know as a player development type of coach.

I'm cool with it
just from the standpoint that we are going to need a lot of WRs if we want to rev up the passing game.

Pulled off of ESPN by a KUSports commenter
(ugh, luckily the comments section was only annoying, not murder-suicide annoying like usual)
KU_FAN (anonymous) says….
Here is something I found on ESPN about Tre Parmalee. I guess he attented [sic] a Nike Football Training Camp at Ohio State. Here is what they wrote about him:
WR – Tre’ Parmalee, 5-9.5, 149, Bishop Miege (Shawnee Mission, Kan.) The son of the Chiefs’ tight ends coach and former NFL tailback Bernie Parmalee, Tre’ had a solid day overall to win WR MVP honors. He’s very smooth and fluid with his routes, and is a natural pass-catcher. Needs to add strength and isn’t a track speedster, but projects well to the next level

Yes, please
A little undersized but his dad played around 200 so I’d assume he has the frame to put on the weight.
It's interesting that he was "WR MVP" yet has little to no recruiting info on him anywhere
But, one good review is better than none.
