Around SBN: Troubled Yankees Join Troubled Red Sox In Last Place

Might be old news but...according to 810's Steven St. John and ESPN's Jeff Chadiha, Jim Harbaugh had all but signed the contract to come to Kansas but was told by Lew Perkins that he could not coach in his bowl game that year. That was a deal breaker and we ended up with Turner Gill.

Lew's legacy has really taken a hit the last year and a half.

That rumor has been going around but I haven’t ever heard that to be a certainty. Hiphop?

That's true...

but that’s not the entire reason. Just a small part.

And now we also know that all the buildings Perkins supposedly raised money for

were actually paid for by borrowing it.

That man was a complete disaster for KU.

Yeah, I used to be mildly supportive of Lew

Done some good stuff, done some bad stuff was mostly my take in a nutshell. But man… the dude’s “legacy” just keeps going further down the pipe every week it seems.

I really like Zenger though. The guy seems to have a fire to him, and really has said ALL the right things about the football program, the Mizzou situation, etc. Perkins was more secretive and shady, a behind closed doors type (I hope you all just laughed while thinking about “the door”). Zenger seems to be more willing and able to be “the face” of the athletics department, if that makes sense.

Shit happens when you win championships

The most encouraging thing IMO

is that it shows that KU is an attractive destination for a coach. Harbaugh was definitely my first hope. I still think it would be tough for any coach to turn around a program in less than 2 years, but am not optimistic about the chances of this staff at the end of the year. It would be nice if the pieces could come together so we didn’t need to go through another change.
