PrintDay after Thanksgiving and there are some great football games to be played. LSU v Arkansas takes center stage and is a huge game for the BCS picture. Winner is the SEC West champ and heads to the SEC championship game playing for a shot at a National title. Meanwhile Alabama and Nick Saban are laughing and thanking an inept kicking game for their easy path to the championship game. Just don't stumble against your rival.
Also on the docket we have two former Big 12 teams looking to establish NEW rivalries on the day after Thanksgiving. Colorado and Nebraska used to play this one every year. This year Colorado plays Utah, Huskers play Hawkeyes as both begin building something from nothing.
Good day of football so grab some leftovers and a beer and avoid shopping at all costs.

Has anyone else heard that UConn's graduation rate will cause them to be barred from the tournament

I'm going by memory here so I might have it a bit wrong.
My understanding is that the new Academic Progress Rate standards don’t apply until the 2013 tournament. Teams have to have a 4-year average above a certain number, or a 2-year average above an even higher number. UConn’s 2-year (2009-2010/2010-2011) APR average isn’t high enough for them to qualify under the new APR standards, and neither is their 4-year average.
Supposedly, the 2011-2012 numbers, which might/probably would help UConn qualify, won’t be released until after the 2013 tournament for whatever reason, so they won’t be used as part of the average until the 2013-2014 season. Of course this is the NCAA we’re talking about, so who knows what kind of changes they’ll make by then.
On another, completely unrelated note, it looks like the NBA is back. Be good to see the Twins and Selby on a court soon.
Because the people deciding are the same ones that bent over to pick up the money
for Ohio States bowl game last year complete with Pryor and all the other cheaters.
