Memorial Stadium
I'm a John Wooden and ucla fan and I found this interesting about your Memorial Stadium. A few stadiums in America bear his mark. Is this common knowledge?
John Wooden helped build Memorial Stadium in Lawrence, Kansas. He was 20, hitchhiking across the country at the time. "I wore my state championship sweater,k" he says. "It helped me catch rides." He needed some money, so he statyed and owrked construction for two weeks.

Interesting little connection there for sure...
I wasn’t aware of that, maybe others were. Either way, thanks for sharing.

John Wooden was 11 when the stadium opened in 1921.
He was 15 when the area currently housing the locker rooms was built, and 17 when the bowl was added.
Something isn’t adding up. Not that Wooden would lie about something like that but those were the only major renovations done when Wooden was around 20 years old.

I've heard the Wooden built Memorial Stadium thing before
and I can’t remember the exact details (I think I saw it on an article about his passing) , but it seemed legit to me at the time. I of course didn’t go into the research you did to find out about his age at different construction landmark dates. Him helping to add the bowl seems plausible though.
For what it's worth...

Phog Allen
also was critical in the design of the football stadium. He was our football coach for a time as well.
Yea ≠ Yeah
There's a track around our football field.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.
