“Closer to home, Perkins earlier this year took KU’s jet the 139 miles to Pittsburg, Kan., to attend the funeral of former K-State quarterback Dylan Meier, whose younger brother, Kerry, had just finished his football career at KU.

K-State football coach Bill Snyder also flew in for the funeral, taking a university plane from Manhattan.

Both needed to get from the airport to the funeral. Perkins charged $425 for a car service. Snyder rented a car for $44."

In my job, I get the “opportunity” to see a lot of expense reports. A car service from Boston to NYC is less than $425. How in the hell could car service for a funeral in Pittsburg, KS cost $425!!?!?!?!?!?!?

And it seems to me that KU has more money than KSU and MU (a lot more money) and its own plane (which MU and KSU do not have as well) and boosters with more percs (like private planes). Lew took advantage of this, and now is a bad guy.

I think he did go a bit over-the-top, but he brought in enough money to our school to abuse it a little without me being too upset. Just my two cent

Comparing Lew's habits to the AD at...

MU and KSU is the old apples to oranges thing again. KU’s athletic revenue is almost equal to MU’s and KSU’s combined and in no small part to Lew. Let him take the planes when and where he needs to. It’s obviously been working. I don’t know why some of the car service expenses have been so high. It almost seems more like these car service companies are price gouging KU because they know they can and KU not taking the time to price compare, but I don’t know.

This story just seems like the KC star piling on in any way they can with very little smoke here and no fire. Notice how they tried to link it back to the ticket scandal near the end, like it was all part of one big giant corrupt mess of Lew’s making or something? This is a nothing story if you ask me.

This entire “story” is nothing but trolling by the Star to get pageviews. I’m guessing they decided to throw all their resources at Lew after the earlier controversies to try to break a big story, and the worst they could find is that a 65 year old man with medical problems doesn’t travel the same way a team of super athletic 18-22 year olds.

is Bill Snyder a 18-22 year old?

Again: Synder and Perkins flew to Pittsburg, KS at the same time for the same event (Dylan Meier’s funeral). Old Ballz Synder rented a car for $45. Big Lew paid for a car service costing $425.

My guess (?) is that the car service included free coke and hookers.

Well the the coke and whores wouldn't exactly be "free" then, would they?

Besides, the only reason that Snyder’s Dodge Neon rental was so cheap is that he made a secret agreement with Avis to pay them more later on. This, of course, will be paid by Snyder taking out a life insurance policy on himself naming the Middle of Nowhere Kansas Avis as the beneficiary.
