Nice -
I’ve looked at this history on the Slant and it always make me realize how much hype goes into the rankings. Many of those under the radar 3-star players panned out, some even to become All Americans, even more so are now playing on Sundays.
Having that extra star is nice but beware of the fighting 3.7’s!!!
The Kansas City Royals; Successfully failing since 1986
5.7's...
dangit, just ruined my own punchline.

Stars.....
are the biggest waste of time. I’m not sure why anyone pays any attention to them.
Both the football ranking ones and the ones that “work” in Hollywood.
build a damn football program, beat some ass, and get on tv more.
Could be worse
could be uggs and fish nets thats bottom o’barrel

I would need to see more.
In person.
build a damn football program, beat some ass, and get on tv more.
Who the hell are
Corry Kipp, Gabe Toomey, Rodney Allen, & Brandon Duncan? I’ve been following the team closely since about 2005, and I can’t say I’ve heard of any of these guys who were the season’s top recruits.

Kipp was the guy that burnt his hands doing the bear crawl for Mangenious….
Toomey was a very solid MLB. Recruited by OU before going the JUCO route and ending up at KU. Believe injuries cut him short, concussions maybe.
Duncan and Allen both had their moments, just never lived up to the four star billing for a variety of reasons.
In case you missed it...I used to go by Denverjhawk : )
You serious?
You’ve never heard of Gabe Toomey!?!
The entire crowd used to chant his name after a tackle. Sounded like booing but it was everyone (all 10K of us anyway) yelling Toooooooomey.
build a damn football program, beat some ass, and get on tv more.
Duncan
All the physical tools and nothing but air between the ears.
Sad.
Allen was just chronically plagued by injuries, just like Toomey.
build a damn football program, beat some ass, and get on tv more.
Part of the problem was that I rarely got to see a game
(being on the West Coast), unless it was the Fox Sports game or a Bowl, it wasn’t on TV for me, so I never would have heard the Toooooooooomey.
Mostly I just thought it was odd that 5 of the 6 top recruits were “also ran”s instead of names I recognized.

Rankings are silly and useless.
It would be much more productive, IMO, for these services to use a tiered system. Tier 1 means you got an Elite class, Tier 2 for the teams that got a Very Good class, etc. Anyone that attempts to explain to you the difference between the #48 class and the #56 class in any given year is completely full of shit and is most likely trying to sell you something.
Really, tiers should be used instead of rankings for most things in college sports- there are simply too many teams playing schedules that are way too different to imply there is some kind of mathematical accuracy behind what we come up with from week to week.
That’s not to say this isn’t nice work, Jayhawk12_28. In fact, it’s some great research. But I think your own results point to the futility of trying to put numerical values on the group of 25 or so athletes each of 120 schools is bringing in.

I've always wondered
what the class rankings would be like leaving school. Not so much projecting for the next level, but recapping the class for their collegiate careers.
