Nuggets be HATIN dat draft

A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.

John Wall #1 overall...

no surprise there. I just hope the Jayhawks go to good teams, I couldn’t care less what number they are selected.

by trueKUblue on Jun 24, 2010 6:42 PM CDT reply actions

Could be another Durant/Oden scenario this year

where Evan Turner turns out to be the better NBA player.

by trueKUblue on Jun 24, 2010 6:44 PM CDT reply actions

Bulls have traded Hinrich and their first round pick to Wizards for...

Nothing. Why? It gives them enough cap space to try to sign, for example, Dwayne Wade AND Amare Stoudemire this summer. Or Lebron and Chris Bosh. You get the idea.

DCJayhawk should be happy.

I am!

And while I hate Kentucky, Calipari and everything they stand for (which is everything that is wrong with NCAA athletics), I’m pretty psyched to go to Wizards games next season to see Wall and Hinrich (sitting on the bench).

by PDXJayhawk on Jun 25, 2010 8:45 AM CDT up reply actions

Uh oh,

I thought the Jazz would be a good fit for Cole Aldrich. They got abused inside all season and couldn’t even pretend to match up with the length of the Lakers.

Interesting that they went back to back

Honestly, thats about two spots higher than I thought Xavier would go and two spots lower than I thought Cole would go

by Andrew Clark on Jun 24, 2010 7:52 PM CDT reply actions

LOVE COLE TO OKC

they are inching closer to LA as my favorite team

by dester30 on Jun 24, 2010 8:17 PM CDT reply actions

Never liked LA...

I only watch NBA teams with former KU players on the roster so I was definitely going for the Celtics in the finals so Peirce could get another ring. On the otherhad, if LA had a KU player on the roster I wouldn’t have cared who won the championship. I was kind of hoping that the KU players in this year’s draft would get spread around to multiple NBA teams, but Memphis got Xavier who already has Arthur and OKC is getting Cole and they already have Collison.

by trueKUblue on Jun 24, 2010 8:30 PM CDT up reply actions

Yeah, that makes sense.

I’m a home team fan. If you lived in or were born in L.A. then you were clearly rooting for the home team. If Kansas had a pro basketball team then I would be rooting for them….which is why I am now a Wizards fan even though I don’t really like soccer.

by trueKUblue on Jun 24, 2010 8:58 PM CDT up reply actions

OKC just picked Brackins....

they are turning into the All Big XII team.

by trueKUblue on Jun 24, 2010 8:32 PM CDT up reply actions

Their GM is great. He's doing a lot of cool shit with moneyball principles.

For example, the team is investing a lot of money in their d-league team and player development. They want to stock their d-league team with prospects to give them time to mature, and to use as trade bait. Basically, run it more like a baseball organization than the traditional NBA model.

by KennyGregoryRockThaCradle on Jun 24, 2010 8:52 PM CDT up reply actions

That sounds awesome.

Unfortunately, they traded Brackins to New Orleans, but it was for Cole so I’m pumped anyway.

by trueKUblue on Jun 24, 2010 9:24 PM CDT up reply actions

i live in okc

so im really pumped.. thats all okc needs is a defensive center

by rockchalks7 on Jun 24, 2010 10:49 PM CDT up reply actions

That's cool

now if only I could stop feeling bitter that cities like OKC have bball teams while KC doesn’t.

by sax solo on Jun 25, 2010 12:18 AM CDT up reply actions

I was rooting for

Sherron Collins to L.A. so I would have a reason to like them.

Man, Fuck the Portland Trailblazers

Pritchard is getting fired for some office political BS, not for anything he did for running the team. They purposefully did this tonight as character assasination. He kinda got a big head after making a lot of good moves, and now they’re trying to “put him in his place.”

What do you guys think about the rumor of Pritchard coming back to KU as AD? With his NBA connections, we’d get every prospect we want in hoops. And he’s a great businessman, so he would continue the focus on developing football, and fundraising for upgrades to the facilities.

I think it would be awesome. Lew should do it as his honorable goodbye to the program.

by KennyGregoryRockThaCradle on Jun 24, 2010 8:50 PM CDT reply actions

I'm all for it.

I was seriously daydreaming about that exact scenario earlier today. I would love to have a former KU great at the helm. I like Lew, but every year with him brings more and more speculation about his intentions and his integrity. I’ve only heard good things about Pritchard and the Trailblazers are shooting themselves in the foot by firing him.

by trueKUblue on Jun 24, 2010 8:56 PM CDT up reply actions

Have they decided how his replacement will be picked? Like, does Lew get to pick his protege, or will it be another group of school executives like when they got Lew?

Seems like this could be Lew’s fantastic going-away gift to the Jayhawks- bring in Pritchard now, train him next year, then he takes over. It would be beautiful.

by KennyGregoryRockThaCradle on Jun 24, 2010 9:07 PM CDT up reply actions

I believe it will be done the same way that Lew was selected, which leads me to believe that Pritchard will at least be contacted. I remember Chancellor Hemenway played a big role in selecting Lew along with the other executives.

Oden over Durant didn't help.

But he’s stll done great things for that franchise and should not have been let go.

by PhillyJayhawk on Jun 24, 2010 9:49 PM CDT reply actions

The good news for Sherron

is that he may get picked up by a really good team that just needs a backup PG. He could learn the NBA game from a veteran while possibly earning a championship ring and a fat paycheck.

by trueKUblue on Jun 24, 2010 10:10 PM CDT reply actions

WOW!!!!!!!

Its a sad day when you cant pick a winner because he’s to short. I give up on humanity.

by Jayhawk12_28 on Jun 24, 2010 11:03 PM CDT reply actions

I'm pretty pissed too,

but I think this will give him the opportunity to talk to Chicago. I think he’ll be picked up by a team.

I don't think height is the only thing holding Sherron back.

They played last season's KU@KSU game the night before the draft on ESPNU.

It was interesting to see it again. It’s a little sad how many minutes of that game the KU team played like ass. (Not unique to just that game of course.)

Collins in particular had a decisive layup running “the same play as against Cornell”, but:
a) Wasn’t too great most of the game.
b) Was down/injured a LOT.
c) There is no ©
d) He even got injured in the combine didn’t he?

I think he gives off the air of a prima donna, a high-maintenance kind of player. So I think he landed about where he should. He’s still got a golden opportunity, but he’s got to show an ability to hunker down away from the spotlight and work it out.

by sax solo on Jun 25, 2010 1:59 PM CDT up reply actions

collins did receive a summer league invitation

http://www2.kusports.com/news/2010/jun/25/self-thrilled-landing-spots-aldrich-henry/?mens_basketball

What about him going into coaching? I can definitely see him on the sidelines at AFH. HCBS could hire him as a graduate assistant

by fizzle406 on Jun 25, 2010 7:58 AM CDT via mobile reply actions

I'm guessing he'll head overseas to try and play if he doesn't make a roster.

Honestly, wouldn’t be a fan of him on the sidelines.

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

RT @sbnkansascity: Former Kansas Jayhawks Guard Sherron Collins Signs With The Charlotte Bobcats http://sbnation.com/e/1300868 #kubball

....my quick smells like french toast...

Twitter: @mstreeter06

by mstreeter06 on Jun 25, 2010 11:52 AM CDT reply actions

Sneaky tweeting

He wasn’t “signed” by the Bobcats. He agreed to be on their Summer League team. It’s essentially an extended tryout for him.

I’m guessing the combination of Larry Brown/ KU and Michael Jordan/ Sherron Collins was too much for him to turn down. They did just draft Augustine, so they may be committed to trying to develop him as their PG going forward. Not sure it’s an ideal fit.

But just because he plays for the Bobcats’ team, however, doesn’t mean he can’t be signed by other teams that are scouting his games. Because he’s a point guard, he’s going to get a lot of chances to make an impression during those games, which is good for him.

I still think if this kid is healthy and never had issues with his weight, he would have been a first round pick. Oh well. Seize this opportunity and don’t let go, Sherron.
