eh, didn't want to push down the first thoughts and scouting report.

Great answers by the way.

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

Working on it right now.

And, you can put it up and remove it from FP back to the sidebar after the conversation has run its course.

1 – Which NCAA Tourney region looks the toughest right now? Which one looks the easiest? Toughest to the eye, I would say Midwest. But, if you are looking in terms of the one with the most lower seeded teams to make noise, I’d say the West, although because the top half of the seeds are a bit weaker, IMO. Murray State. Just remember who told you first.

2 – Give me a 1- or 2-seed you just don’t even remotely believe in. ‘Nova. Why should I believe in them? Duke would definitely be the choice if they weren’t so damn efficient in their un-athletic ways.

3 – Give me a team seeded fifth or lower that you love to make some noise. Murray State will make the Sweet 16, as will Washington and Utah State. BYU will make the Elite Eight. So, define “noise.”

4. What’s your favorite non-Kansas NCAA tournament memory? That’s a tough one. Aside from Tyus Edny, (since that is because of my Kansas afinity) George Mason over UConn was great to watch, seeing Adam Morrison cry was awesome and I vaguely remember Hampton over Iowa State. I hated Marcus Fizer, so I liked that.

Here goes:

1 – Which NCAA Tourney region looks the toughest right now? Which one looks the easiest?

I want to say the Midwest and maybe writing the East preview is screwing with my brain, but damn that’s a tough region. Kentucky, Wisconsin, West Virginia, Temple are all really good teams. Kentucky’s road could be hell. After the 1st round, they might get a talented Texas. Then they’ll likely get Wisconsin or Temple. Then finish with West Virginia to get to the Final Four. Not fun.

2 – Give me a 1- or 2-seed you just don’t even remotely believe in.
Gotta be Villanova. I could see K-State stumbling because of their occasional shooting/foul issues.

3 – Give me a team seeded fifth or lower that you love to make some noise. BYU

4. What’s your favorite non-Kansas NCAA tournament memory?

Harold Arcenaux just torching the tournament for two games has to be up there.

1. Midwest….South
2. Kentucky…they’re in the SEC and they’re young…can’t hit from deep either…I have them losing to Texas in multiple brackets. It would make my friend cry. Good stuff.
3. Texas A&M and UTEP…oh and BYU…guess one could say Cornell too
4. George Mason’s run a few years ago…Wichita State Sweet 16 too (same year right?)

by jco8394 on Mar 17, 2010 7:43 PM CDT reply actions

1. I’m sticking with the Midwest, but for Ohio State, not us. That’s a pretty unfair journey.

2. It’s gotta be Nova. I pray that jco is right, but I’m guessing he/she’s wrongl

3. UTEP and St. Mary’s. UTEP gets Butler in Round 1 and then likely Murray State in round two. St. Mary’s gets Richmond and then has the bangers to take down Villanova in the second round.

4. I don’t a specific memory of a game other than Kansas, but I do remember two teachers from high school who would turn on the tournaments every year and figure out ways not to teach on tournament days.

it was hilarious

I always tried to take their afternoon classes in the spring my junior and senior years because I knew that, for two Thursdays and Fridays in the spring, we’d watch basketball for 45 minutes and talk about the brackets.

zomg

1: Midwest, not even a question. Not even close. By far the midwest

2. Puke. Haven’t made it past the sweet 16 in almost 10 years. That includes some high seeded teams including Jesus Junior Reddick. Nova has also struggled as well with no front court. Ironic they are paired together in the same bracket.

3. I think Marquette. They are a 6 seed and if they win their opening game get New Mexico in round two which is very winnable IMHO. With their bracket, Quette could make a run no doubt.

4. Wisconsin making the final 4 as an 8 seed in 2000. Boom.

Dude you think they play slow under Bo Ryan

You haven’t seen Malarky. Before Ryan they had “Slick” Dick Bennett as coach (father of former Wazzu current Virginia coach Tony Bennett). He was even slower. Sconnie used to win games like 48-45. Rediculous

1 – Which NCAA Tourney region looks the toughest right now? Which one looks the easiest?

Midwest is toughest in terms of overall quality of teams but I believe Kentucky has the toughest individual path to the Final Four out of the #1 seeds. South is just silly. Notre Dame at 6? How could that possibly have been a good idea?

2 – Give me a 1- or 2-seed you just don’t even remotely believe in.

Kentucky. I just feel like after their loss to South Carolina, they played a bit under the radar and then bombed at Tennessee and SHOULD have lost the SEC Championship. I really think if Texas can get out of Round 1 they could give Kentucky a whooole lot of problems. Also, Kansas State. From the #2 seeds, I’d honestly say Ohio State. They were decent without Turner but with him they’re a big-time team. It takes a truly transcendent talent to carry a college team through this tournament and I just don’t see Turner as the Danny Manning of this year. I think they’ll get to the Elite Eight but I feel like we can handle him should we face him.

3 – Give me a team seeded fifth or lower that you love to make some noise.

Washington. I know the Pac-10 was terrible and Washington was a huge letdown but I think they could really make some noise. Georgia Tech is also the kind of team that scares me come tournament time. You just never know when an explosive big man with a multi-faceted game is going to explode all over your face. I’m elated Ga. Tech is a 10 seed and not a 9. BYU and Minnesota are two others I’m excited to watch play.

4 – What’s your favorite non-Kansas NCAA tournament memory?

A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.

1 – Which NCAA Tourney region looks the toughest right now? Which one looks the easiest?

Midwest by far. The other three are varying degrees of suck. The East is just awful. The top half of the West is horrendous, but K-State, Pitt, and Xavier makes for a very strong bottom half. I think the South is a sneakily decent bracket (with A&M, Baylor, and ND), but Nova sucks and Purdue could be the worst 4 seed ever.

2 – Give me a 1- or 2-seed you just don’t even remotely believe in.

Pretty much the entire Big East (Cuse, Nova, WV). Cuse is good, but Onuaku’s injury kills them. They’d be incredibly vulnerable if they played even a remotely competent opponent. WV’s better, but Huggins is the Schottenheimer of basketball coaches. He’s just awful when he gets to the tournament. I wouldn’t be surprised if they lost in the second round. And Nova’s been really bad lately and they have no decent big men. I could see Samhan giving them a lot of trouble if St Mary’s happens to make it to the second round. The Big East has a lot of good teams, but I don’t think they have any real top teams (like Kansas, Kentucky, Duke, Ohio State, K-State) I’ve got Pitt and ND as the strongest Big East teams, but they got screwed over in their draws, having to face K-State and Baylor relatively early.

3 – Give me a team seeded fifth or lower that you love to make some noise.

I love Washington. I don’t think people realize how good Washington and California were this year because of how much the rest of the Pac-10 sucked. Both teams weren’t very good at the beginning of the year, but improved immensely toward the end. I’ve got Washington going to the Elite Eight.
