boy, with all the upsets yesterday

I’ll be KSU is kicking themselves for shatting the bed against Iowa State last week. They would have been the 4th #1 seed above Duke.

It was a little scary what KSU did to OSU yesterday.

by PDXJayhawk on Mar 12, 2010 11:06 AM CST reply actions

Yes it was, they were on a mission

… but they also had a lot to prove after the way their regular season ended. KU on the other hand kind of did their business as usual routine.

by MichiganJayHawk on Mar 12, 2010 11:26 AM CST up reply actions

OSU's either real good or real bad.

Everybody is forgetting that they were the 7th seed…

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

Duke-UVa

This Duke-UVa game is entertaining. No score for the first three minutes, Duke leading 20-16 with four minutes left in the first half.

Duke does NOT look like a #1 seed.

by PDXJayhawk on Mar 12, 2010 11:43 AM CST reply actions

gotta be honest

K-State’s performance yesterday was impressive. I’m a little nervous about our game, but I think both of these are going to be really competitive, fun games tonight.

by PDXJayhawk on Mar 12, 2010 11:48 AM CST up reply actions

It definitely was impressive.

But after losing at home to ISU, it’s hard to know what to expect out of them.

by knayte on Mar 12, 2010 11:53 AM CST up reply actions

true

So it looks like the least bad #2 will fail up into the West division #1 seed?

That’s fine with me.

West Virginia?

it's possible

It could happen if they win the Big East tournament, but I think Georgetown might have a better shot at winning that tourney.

by PDXJayhawk on Mar 12, 2010 12:07 PM CST up reply actions

Plus Okie State played absolutely terrible

I mean holy crap.

Shit happens when you win championships

by Andrew Clark on Mar 12, 2010 12:11 PM CST up reply actions

which is why it's so important to be the Top #1 seed...

that means we get the fourth #1 in the Final Four, should we make it, and a much easier path to the championship game Monday night.

53 Conference Championships!! and now 6 IN A ROW!!! Holy Hell...Good Luck with That!!

I'm so nervous about the tournament

I’m hoping that second round we get someone like a UNLV like in 2008. I don’t want a big East team like Marquette or someone like that.

Nervous Nancy over herr aight

Shit happens when you win championships

by Andrew Clark on Mar 12, 2010 12:12 PM CST up reply actions

completely agree

A team like Marquette definitely scares me more than a team from out west. The newest bracketology has our 8/9 as Florida State vs UTEP.

The funny part about the bracket is that Washington is a 13 seed. I always think of the 13 seeds as mid-majors who were upsets in their tournaments or who are completely underrated (i.e. Bradley). I don’t think of them as failing high-majors who just sneak into the tournament.

Yeah its kinda malarky to hit a team from a BCS conference first round

Why the fuck am I reading bleacher report?
The highly criticised Aldrich has been cold at times this season, but that occurrence tends to pop up when the Jayhawks play ranked opponents. Luckily, Texas Tech is nowhere near the Top 25, so expect Alrdrich to have at least 20 points.

All in all, Kansas is looking in tip-top shape. Arguably not No. 1 seed shape, but tip-top shape nonetheless.

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

One more...
For Kansas, the weakness is found in Sherron Collins and Cole Aldrich, not because these players aren’t great players, quite the opposite. I’d argue that Kansas is over-reliant on these two players for different reasons: Collins on offense and Aldrich on defense.

Kansas has been over-reliant on Collins? I forgot, haven’t won a game without him carrying the offense this year.

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

People ask me what I do in winter when there’s no baseball. I’ll tell you what I do. I stare out the window and wait for spring.

Correct a yung berg if hes wrong

But didn’t Collins score 19 points last game while only taking 8 shots (making 5)? Wouldn’t call that “relying”

Shit happens when you win championships

by Andrew Clark on Mar 12, 2010 12:40 PM CST up reply actions

we haven't relied on Collins all year long...

he might be our guy that steps up and takes big shots, but it’s a big difference from last year when he had to take ALL the shots.

K-State might be back in the discussion with all these losses. Although I’d guess Duke or West Virginia are probably in the drivers seat.

yeah, but the clock was off

The clock start about 0.2 slow. Turner shouldn’t have gotten that shot off.

shenanigans???

53 Conference Championships!! and now 6 IN A ROW!!! Holy Hell...Good Luck with That!!

by Owen on Mar 12, 2010 1:06 PM CST up reply actions

no, but it was close

It doesn’t change the fact that Turner hit that shot, but the clock started about the time the ball was hitting his hand after the first dribble. It was pretty obvious, but there was no way that Eddie Hightower was going to wave off the shot.

by PDXJayhawk on Mar 12, 2010 1:10 PM CST up reply actions

Excited for Wisconsin-Illinois

My parents (Wisconsin graduates) live in Illinois. Lot of shit talking. Plus I kinda grew up with a kid who plays for Illinois so its cool to watch him play, even if I dislike the Illini strongly.

I was taking your reasoning for looking forward to Wisconsin Illinois and turning into a more ridiculous statement. I can see why you’d be watching, but I found the statement “I kinda grew up with a kid” to be funny and worth a jab. No hard feelings I hope?

Oh, just based on Cousins drew two charges in a row that were pretty iffy and kick-started UK’s upswing. So I added lots of cheap insinuation that it was based on a name on the jersey.

first Kentucky I've seen this year

They really rely on run-outs and fast breaks and then Calipari’s “dribble drive.” But they don’t seem to shoot as well as the ‘08 Memphis team. They don’t worry me too much.

by PDXJayhawk on Mar 12, 2010 1:47 PM CST reply actions

The only one who worries me on that team is Cousins

He rally can be a beast down low and seems more agile/athletic than Cole. At least we have multiple bodies to throw at him with our collection of bigs.

Wall will git his no matter what, you just have to make sure to limit everyone else.

Anybody wondering how Michigan fans are handling losing to their biggest rival on a half court buzzer beater?

Check this out:

nope...

got hosed when we switched our conference tourney in the middle of a TV deal. Another example of horrible exposure due to a lack of competancy in the Big 12 front office. We’ll be on the FABULOUS Big 12 Network…otherwise known as Altitude in my neck of the woods or perhaps ESPN the ocho depending on where you live.

Which means I get an “HD” signal in 4:3.

You think Beebe’s bad? Try dealing with Peter Angelos and his daily attempts to screw the Nationals and prevent people in Washington from watching WASHINGTON’S franchise on TV. Dude’s a major league prick.

damn i guess i need to reset my DVR, It said we were on espn this norning…

by dester30 on Mar 12, 2010 4:05 PM CST up reply actions

that shot should have been waived off

If you watch the replay closely, the game clock doesn’t start until the ball has almost reached his hand for the second dribble. I watched it about half a dozen times, and those 0.2 or 0.3 seconds would have ended the clock before the shot.

Obviously, there’s no way Hightower would waive a shot like that off, just because he’s Hightower, but it SHOULD have been waived off because the game clock didn’t start on time.
