Another week and another ugly picture.  Considering the pass defense for Okie State has been a little soft this year, anybody rather see Webb behind center this weekend?

Question time, does anyone read these?  Is there anything you'd rather see on the numbers side of things?

Their offense is terrifying

We’ll need to force at least three turnovers to be in this, if not more. And have one defensive touchdown. Otherwise this thing will be over by halftoime

what's just as scary in my mind....

is their special teams. #1 in net punting. These guys probably play with a short field more often than not.

This is for their punt team isn't it?

So if anything, it’s not their offense starting with a short field, it’s their defense starting with a longer field.

yes...

but typically when you have a good net punting average you tend to win field position on both sides of the ball. Pin your opponent deep and keep em there.

True

but we’re talking about the Okie State defense. Even if they pin someone, they’re usually not holding them there.

perhaps...

I guess I’d still take their problems over ours. : )

solution: don't force them to punt

checkmate

Soft Pass D

I’m not sure I’d call their pass D soft just because they give up some yards. I think what the yardage reflects is the amount of plays by the opponents playing catch-up/throwing the ball.

I’d still expect KU to try to play ball control O, run the clock as well as the ball, and limit the number of possessions by all.

by dagger108 on Nov 18, 2010 9:18 AM CST reply actions

Agreed. I think they'll try to run a similar gameplan to what was ran at Nebraska.

Whether it works or not is a different story, Nebraska helped that plan a lot by keeping the clock moving on their own.

Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.

I'm looking forward to this game.

Mostly because we decided on a Four Loko-themed tailgate, in honor of its imminent demise. And also so we’ll be blissfully unaware of the massive beatdown occurring on the field.

It’s a kind of mild wine-cooler, consumed mainly by debutantes, rich socialites, and other members of the upper class. The government has recently stepped in to prevent its being sold in liquor stores, due to an inter-governmental dispute with the Republic of Seychelles, the tropical country from which the drink originates.

Oh yeah

Its that energy drink/alcohol crap. That stuff is disgusting.

Why don’t you man up and drink some beer? Or hard licquor? MAN UP

I've never actually had it

But since everybody is freaking out about it and the government is literally banning the stuff as we speak, I figure I should try it at least once.

Good thing the game shouldn't be too exciting

or your heart might explode.

I wouldn't prefer Webb over Mecham

Not because of anything Mecham’s done, but because Webb hasn’t shown me any better passing ability than Mecham has. They both do ok in the short passing game, and suck throwing it deep.

by PenguinHawk on Nov 18, 2010 12:23 PM CST via mobile reply actions

Yeah

Thats why I originally wanted Pick, because I figure if none of our QBs can throw a good, accurate ball past ten yard we might as well have a rushing weapon back there. Now thats not an option, so I’m not sure what to think.

Hopefully we rip off a few successful runs and can move the ball a bit on the ground.

That reminds me that one mini-success this season

has been the mentality to stick with the run, rather than just abandon it after a few series when they get stuffed. Maybe that’s partly b/c the passing game isn’t really something the OC/Gill want to switch to, but still, I like the “resilience”.
