It's shaping up for an OU v OSU bedlam game with all the marbles at stake. After that Nebraska takes aim at the ultimate sendoff for the farewell tour.
Do you think if they win the Big 12 this year they might want back in? Especially with Texas now floating in the bottom of the cereal bowl.
1. Oklahoma State
How They Fared: 33-16 win over Texas
Week Twelve: Kansas
Previous Ranking #1
The rest of the college football world is starting to come around on Oklahoma State. Kirk, Lee, Chris and the gang had plenty of good things to say about Mike Gundy, Bill Young and the rest of the crew. It's all going to boil down to Bedlam.
How They Fared: 20-3 win over Kansas
Week Twelve: Texas A&M
Previous Ranking #2
A win is a win, but the Huskers didn't look all that crisp offensively in Lincoln. Yes over time they chiseled away at the Jayhawk D and the Husker D was absolutely perfect, but you wonder how things will work out if they had been up against a tougher opponent. The brothers Pelini have a trip to A&M and a home finale against the Buffs before they get a chance to earn the Big 12 title just before getting out of Dodge.
3. Texas A&M
How They Fared: 42-30 win over Baylor
Week Twelve: Nebraska
Previous Ranking #3
A&M continues to look like a much better offense since the Tannehill takeover. Nebraska brings what should be the top passing defense in the country to town this week and that will be perhaps the biggest test to date. A win over the Corn and Aggie fans have to start kicking themselves for the move not being made earlier.
How They Fared: 38-28 win over K-State
Week Twelve: Iowa State
Previous Ranking #6
This one wasn't really as close as the score indicates. Mizzou looks to be back on track offensively and even made some big plays on defense against the Wildcats. They close out the season with games against Iowa State and Kansas. While a Big 12 Title game doesn't appear to be in the cards, it's still possible if the Tigers take care of business and get some help.
How They Fared: 45-7 win over Texas Tech
Week Twelve: Baylor
Previous Ranking #7
A good bounce back for the Sooners after a stumble in College Station. Two final road games await and with a win in Waco and a win against rival Oklahoma State, the Sooners will be playing the Cornhuskers in the game to decide the BIG 8 Championship!! Yeah bringin back the Big 8.
How They Fared: 42-30 loss to Texas A&M
Week Eleven: Oklahoma
Previous Ranking #4
Baylor has hit a tough stretch at the wrong time. A&M is playing better, Oklahoma State and Oklahoma are arguably the two best in the conference. This is still a good team, but they're taking a bit of a beating here at the end against some good competition.
7. Kansas State
How They Fared: 38-28 loss to Mizzou
Week Eleven: Colorado
Previous Ranking #5
You might beat him, but Bill Snyder will go down swinging. A win against Colorado this week assures the Wildcats an above .500 record, but it might not be such a sure thing as Colorado looked surprisingly decent this weekend. Alas, it's ok, North Texas is waiting in the wings as the final sacrificial lamb. Good season for Snyder. The Wildcats lose a lot next year, it will be interesting to see how they respond in the new Big 12(-2).
How They Fared:33-16 loss to Oklahoma State
Week Twelve: Florida Atlantic
Previous Ranking #10
Decent effort against the Cowboys, but most of the points came after the game was decided. I guess they're better than Tech, but it's a very real possibility that the Longhorns are going to be at home after Thanksgiving and that might make them the ONLY team in the South that doesn't go bowling. Shocking year for the Horns.
9. Texas Tech
How They Fared: 45-7 loss to Oklahoma
Week Twelve: Weber State
Previous Ranking #9
The recipient of Oklahoma's rebound game, now get's a rebound opponent in Weber State. That should lock in a mediocre bowl in year one of the Tommy Tuberville era.
10. Iowa State
How They Fared:34-14 loss to Colorado
Week Twelve: Mizzou
Previous Ranking #8
Need a win to hit bowl eligibility. I'd guess the Cyclones were counting on that based on the recent Buff woes, but they failed to accomplish it. One more chance but it's not an easy one. Mizzou in Ames.
How They Fared: 20-3 loss to Nebraska
Week Twelve: Oklahoma State
Previous Ranking #11
It's looking better. The defense put up a solid fight against the Corn, but Nebraska's D was that much better and then some. The Jayhawks haven't quit though, far from it. The comeback against Colorado might in fact have been as good as it get's, but it's something to build off in the offseason.
How They Fared: 34-14 win over Iowa State
Week Twelve: Kansas State
Eh...they won at home against the Cyclones. Good bounce back after all that happened in the last 7 days. Now do it again and you'll get out of the bottom.
