KU vs KSU: Plus/Minus
Plus/Minus for last night's game tells the big story fairly well, it also misses a few of the key moments. K-State also does a good job of muddying the waters in all of their games and they did a pretty good job of doing that last night. Cole Aldrich leads the team with a +11, followed closely by Brady Morningstar at +10 (more on him below). Marcus Morris is our 3rd highest total at +4. For K-State, Wally Judge leads the way with a +10. Judge put on his big boy pants last night. Rodney McGruder was second for the Wildcats with a +9 and Jacob Pullen checks in at +7.

- Xavier Henry didn't play a great game by any means. But- I was happy to see he only took 5 shots. Him scoring more would be great, however if his shot isn't falling I like knowing that he's not forcing shots.
- Team total of 32 is very low. Very, very low when you remember they had an extra 5 minutes of basketball. Like I said, K-State does a very good job of creating ugly games.
- Brady Morningstar and Marcus Morris will determine how far this team goes in March. Morningstar had two key plays that stick out in my mind from last night. The first play he stripped his man and the ball ends up in Aldrich's hands. Basically a steal that Cole gets credited with. The second was a tip out on a rebound.

Clemente
really killed them last night. If it wasn’t clear from watching the game (or reading the BOTC comments in their OGT), Warden’s +/- has confirmed what we all suspected. He was just not very efficient, and probably was a detriment. His quick trigger on the 3 inside a minute left in OT was really not a good shot, even though you love the moxie of him being willing to step up. It just wasn’t in the flow of the offense and they could’ve gotten a much better shot had they worked it a little bit more.
Also, Brady’s swarming defense had a lot to do with Clemente’s struggles last night, too. Much as some would hate to see it, Brady is one of the best players on this team. He knows his role and very rarely hurts the team in any fashion. 14 point on only 5 shots is VERY impressive.
Operation 39-1 is a go. Proceed to target.
Clemente reminds me a lot of Keith Langford for us
Guard that had a lot of talent and showed signs that he could fill up a stat sheet, score, etc. Then he tries to do way too much in a lot of games which ends up hurting the team in the end.
Jacob Pullen should have the ball in his hands at all times in clutch situations for KSU. That dude has ice water in his veins. Must be a Chicago thing (people from Illinois are a lot better at everything than people not born in the land of Lincoln).
I’m no longer worried about Marcus and Brady. Marcus had 13 points and 10 boards last night despite getting called for a BS call whenever he looked at someone. Its apparent to me now that Marcus is going to bring it every game. He is a force on the glass, can score from anywhere and plays hard. Its alarming how much of a gap is developing between Marcus and Markieff. MkMorris has played good D and rebounded but Marcus is quietly becoming one of our main offensive weapons. If he and Cole kept playing up to the best of their abilities, or even just play like they have of late (or a little better) I’m having a hard time finding a reason we should lose. Ever.
Brady does what we ask of him. He makes outside shots, passes well and plays strong defense. At this point, if we can just get contributions from X and Tyshawn, we’ll be that much better

Agreed
I don’t think you can JUST chalk that win up to luck. Fact is, our fellas made just enough plays to win it. It wasn’t luck that we were in a position to win at the end of regulation, and it wasn’t luck that we had the better play in overtime. Did we make mistakes? Sure, but so did K-State, and many mistakes (by both sides) were caused by the determined defense of the opponent. That was a gutsy win by KU, and I think chalking it up to luck undermines what they accomplished.
Now let’s just don’t blow it against Colorado, huh?
