KU vs Missouri: Plus/Minus
Nothing for me to say or add that hasn't already been mentioned, so I'll say some stuff anyway. Kansas came out and completely dominated the first half and kept the Tigers at arms length the rest of the night. Cole Aldrich once again turns in a great performance, finishing at +24. Marcus and Markieff tied for second on the team at +14, good for a combined +28 for the Morri. Performances like that from the bigs go a long way in covering up a combined -10 from Collins (-7) and Taylor (-3). The guards didn't play that bad, just didn't score or shoot all that well. For the other guys, Missouri recovered a little bit from their +2 in the first half, finishing with a total of +16 (tempo free average before tonight was +47).

Quick thoughts:
- After the Baylor game I said:
Jayhawks not named Sherron Collins and Marcus Morris totaled a +15.
Last night, Jayhawks not named Sherron Collins and Marcus Morris combined for a +51. That works for me.
- The trend of shutting down the opponents highest +/- contributor continued again, Bowers averaged 9.95 coming into last night. He ends up at 0.
- Last one, last night Nate Bukaty from 810 radio tweeted something along the lines of:
People wonder why KU fans are considered spoiled. Cole plays a game like this and they say "Finally".
If you hear anyone say this, please slap them upside the head. For all the flaws the plus/minus has, it is definitely highlighting what Aldrich does for this squad. Even if you think it's a completely bogus system, the adjusted game score (similar, but more in-depth) used by Rock M Nation had Aldrich as the season leader heading into last night's game. Sherron might have more big moments for this team, but don't let that cloud your judgement of Cole Aldrich. He's a machine.

my though is that Sherron
was lucky to be only at -7.
on another note, if players get dinged for fouls committed, should they also get credit for fouls drawn?

Maybe...but I'm not going to count fouls drawn and the box scores I use don't track it either.
Make your free throws, that’s a free point.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.
i figured that was part of the issue
you mean you're not keeping your own statsheet at home?

Am I a douche for asking this?
Was the officiating REALLY bad last night….or am I just a biased Jayhawk who has no business complaining about officiating?
X gets hacked – no call.
Morris pulls his hands back to make sure he doesn’t foul – called.
WTF!?!
Posting/venting here only because I don’t have time to read through the OGT. Sorry to thread crap.
There simply is no substitute for experience.
I should go on to say....
I guess I expected more of a home court advantage. Not that we needed it.
There simply is no substitute for experience.
I thought it was fine...
my only complaint is when they call it loose in one half and then tight in another which seemed to happen last night.
52 Conference Championships!! Holy Hell...Good Luck with That!!
Fair enough
But the hack on X was an extremely bad no-call imho. Someone could get hurt if they let crap like that fly.

About normal.
It’s very hard for the refs to keep up with the speed and athleticism of college b-ball players. Leads to the sort of inconsistency that Denver mentioned in his reply to you. MU also presses most of the game, and the refs become reluctant to blow so many whistles that it slows down the game too much.

Yeah, I'd say speed had a lot to do with the call on X.
The ref ends up behind on the play and is blocked by two players.
Glad I came, just wish I hadn't stayed so long.
It was terrible
They missed blatant fouls like the X hack, but would call some brushing, ticky tack stuff. Also called us for 5 moving screens during the game and I doubt all of our players suddenly forgot how to set screens without moving (although Markieff does do that every now and then)

It was awful
but I wouldn’t say it favored any one team. Just amazingly inconsistent

You know you like college hockey
It makes up for all the gimmes
we got from the refs at ISU…
If I were a ‘Clone fan after that game I’d be pretty pissed.
Turner Gill is introduced to the Kansas Athletic dept:
Gill, I'm Bill and this is Phil. Gill, I'm Phil and this is Jill. Gill, I'm Jill, you know Bill, Phil...
i agree that it was bad, especially the missed call on X's layup
but it seems like bad officiating is the norm (agreeing with the others). i also think in a blowout, the natural tendency is to favor the losing team, even if they aren’t the home team.

The college game in general has become much too physical IMO
Guys are getting concussions and stuff out there. It sucks because it’s killing the offensive flow of the games. The NBA had to undergo some drastic changes to get scoring back up after the Knicks/Heat teams of the late 90s threatened to turn the sport into wrestling matches. I think college may have to do the same.
