Bowl Projections - This Is Ridiculous

I like to read around... Call me whatever you want but I like to consume information from a number of sources.

Well, in my daily travels, I came across this at foxsports.com.

Their bowl projections after week four: http://msn.foxsports.com/cfb/story/10134182/Week-4-bowl-projections-

Notice that we are picked to play in the Insight Bowl. Apparently they liked us so much last year, we got an invitation to come back. Pardon my disrespect if I say, "Had a great time, but I've got a better date..."

The Insight Bowl, if you remember, pits the Big 12 # 6 against the Big 10 # 6.

That means the 'insightful' individuals at foxsports.com think there are six  teams in the Big 12 better than KU (this assumes Oklahoma and Texas both make BCS bowls). According to these bowl picks, they are, in order of rank:

1. Texas
2. Oklahoma
3. Nebraska
4. Missouri
5. Oklahoma State
6. Texas Tech

Please comment below and tell me I'm not alone in my utter confusion.

Don't forget Oklahoma

Also, remember that the bowls don’t have to pick the better team.

Yea

Oklahoma disappeared off my radar for a sec… Oh how I wish it were truly so…

I understand your point regarding team choices on the part of Bowl committees. Still, when foxsports.com is projecting bowls, I think they are simply going by bowl commitments by conference and projected conference finish. If this is the case, I still find it somewhat silly.

Could be worse, we could be playing a bowl here:

Wait. Sarah Palin's in Hong Kong? But who's watching Russia?

Could be kinda cool...

I mean, it would be neat to be able to walk to a KU bowl game for me personally. The stadium is pretty frickin awesome. But yeah, playing in a baseball stadium always sucks.

Plus it would be really, really cold.

But Kansans are tough, so that shouldn’t be too big of a factor. Put your beer coat on!

It's much colder in Kansas

that it is in New York. New Yorkers are pussies.

Wait. Sarah Palin's in Hong Kong? But who's watching Russia?

Except 50% of our football team is from Texas

And 40 degrees is considered artic air down here.

Shhhhh....

I grew up in New York and my wife and I just moved out here a little more than a year ago.

I’m a Yankees fan, but I lived there for 20 years… It’s the only front-runner I like (trust me… when I’m a Dolphins fan I’m vindicated, I think)

Still… I dont want to go back to Arizona… I’m thinking somewhere a little further east, right on the water…

ESPN has us going to either the Cotton or Sun...

…and given that I trust ESPN far more than I trust anything associated with FOX, I’ll stick with that.

I don't know, I like to think that things started out initially with good intentions, but then we just loused it up. Kind of like intelligence. We have this glorious thing that allowed us to survive for millenia and now we use it to write porn film plots involving pterodactyls. Talk about wasting the gift.

ESPN

Mark Schlabach has us going to the Fiesta Bowl this week! Ha!

How about that??

by eastcoasthawk on Oct 5, 2009 7:38 PM CDT reply actions

Playing Boise State. Would be great if it would happen. Although I don’t see it right now.

Then again, Bruce Feldman has us going to the Brut Sun bowl. Ugh!

Sorry, didn’t see the other thread on this until just now.
