Tom Keegan needs a new story
So as if this guy hasn't been milking this enough and whining about not getting coverage or interviews, now he comes out and goes to a cultural issue in his sports column.
I don't blame anyone for not wanting to read this article because it really isn't good and he, yet again, sheds bad light on KU athletics when we should be moving on from this. But I had to post it here because it kind of pisses me off that the editor of KU's hometown paper is so ignorant about this subject and still chose to write about it and put it out there for outsiders to judge.
I was happy when the LJWorld replaced Chuck Woodling with a "bigger name" but now I'm not so sure that was such a good thing.

1. If you are 50 years old, and are trying to enforce the morality you were taught as a kid on students that are 30 years younger than you, and come from a completely different subculture, you will always come off looking like and old fool. Period.
2. Black people began to use the “n word” amongst eachother in the late 70s or so precisely because it was so taboo and so powerful. By using it amongst themselves, it didn’t hurt as much to have a white person call them that. Women have tried a similar tactic with the “b word.” Does it work? As a white male, I have no idea.
Personally, someone could call me a “cucumber,” and if I knew they meant that to be deeply insulting, I would still be hurt. It’s the intention behind words that matters to me, not the words themselves. And that’s why rap lyrics with the “n word,” even when posted on a public site like Facebook, don’t bother me.
We’re going to demolish Southern Miss tomorrow. Can’t wait!

KGRTC has already made
most of my points, but another blundering by Keegan is equating the N word with the use of a common expletive. They’re used in completely different contexts and Keegan having to use a different swear word when he drops his hotdog while golfing versus TT & Sherron needing to avoid a racial slur is a bizarre analogy.

Keegan is a moron.
His articles are never good. Its either rah rah KU drivel or something dumb. Seriously, even his pro-KU columns are stupid. “KU had heart, and it won the game today.” Yawn. Hopefully fumbling this whole situation gets him the axe and Lawrence can get in a young, knows whats going on around KU KU J-school grad (sorry I’m biased) who will do a good job.
Shit…(here comes something wild)…WHITLOCK’s racially skewered take on this was a ton better. Keegan = Fail.
