Kansas vs. Southern Mississippi Tale of the Tape
It's been pointed out many times that at this point statistically speaking Kansas looks great. It has also been pointed out that this early in the season, stats are a lot like puppets and you can make them say and do what you want.
Kansas hasn't played anyone like USM and hasn't played a Kansas. This game will be the toughest test for both to date and at this point these two teams are near mirror images minus a few areas. Offenses are both explosive and while the USM passing attack hasn't been putting up the numbers that Kansas has it's safe to say the Kansas passing game hasn't been firing on all cylinders either.
Defensively both teams have been very good and exceptional against the run. So what wins out? Does this turn into an up and down shootout or are these defenses for real. Either way I think we're in for a good one Saturday. Hopefully the Kansas staff can keep the Jayhawks focused on the task at hand and avoid the other distractions of the week to come out with a win.

That’s my biggest concern. TT and his Facebook page may have singled-handedly given the game to USM. But then again, the football team may be so pissed off over the whole team, they may come out and take out their frustration on USM.
Sawin' wood
I was thinking that we're pretty evenly
matched statistically. We have the edge in some places but in most others we’re pretty even.
One thing I do like is our single digit ranking in sacks and tackles for a loss. That’s good stuff right there.
Wait. Sarah Palin's in Hong Kong? But who's watching Russia?
I think the main advantage that comes to me is Todd
They’ve got great skill position players like us (Fletcher and Brown) but their quarterback is a sophomore, and he only completed 11 touchdowns to receivers not named DeAndre Brown last year. Todd is incredible at spreading it around when need be, and he’s a three-year starter with four-year experience.
I think it might be hot in the first half, especially if we start slow, but we’ll be scoring on these guys all day.

Looking at these numbers...
…I’m definitely a lot more worried about this game, especially given that we don’t know yet how much the week’s shenanigans are going to impact things.
I don't know, I like to think that things started out initially with good intentions, but then we just loused it up. Kind of like intelligence. We have this glorious thing that allowed us to survive for millenia and now we use it to write porn film plots involving pterodactyls. Talk about wasting the gift.

I think Mangino and staff will do a great job focusing the troops...
and hence So Miss may be in for a fired up bunch of ’Hawks. Sometimes exuberance can cause judgment lapses, like covering screens and such, but if everyone is focused on doing their job and representing themselves in as positive an on-field light as possible, then look out. Line was 13.5 last night, and I doubt it moves much off of that.
They'll just tape pictures of T2
to the back of all the USM helmets.
Wait. Sarah Palin's in Hong Kong? But who's watching Russia?
That will work.
And put pictures of the woman at the center of this on the KU helmets.

That's funny...
On the KUSports board I posted this idea: have the KUAC buy some USM jerseys and make the bball team wear them on campus tomorrow.
If that happens: KU 66 USM 10
Sawin' wood
No Way that's a distraction.
Big time college athletes are in FAR crazier situations than this all the time. Some of the stories I’ve heard about basketball players would literally blow your mind.
How would that even work? They try to watch tape on USM, but they’re just so furious they can’t stop picturing TT in their minds? They’re too busy trying to call this girl on the sidelines to go into the game?
BTW, HCMM said they had their best practice of the season yesterday.
KU – 49
USM – 20
