Open Game Thread :: Game #3 :: Duke 1-1 (0-0) @ Kansas 2-0 (0-0)

Duke Blue Devils at Kansas Jayhawks, Sep 19, 2009 11:00 AM CDT

Photo

Is it just me, or does this game already feel like a victory?

I mean, it's weird. I even felt a touch of nerves before Northern Colorado, but now, it's like I'm not even considering a possible upset. Which is always disconcerting. Vegas thinks we win, and win big. The numbers say we win and win big, although by not as much as Vegas says. But it seems as if everyone is talking about how badly we'll beat Duke, as if they aren't even allowed to win or something. It's crazy.

We're going to win. It isn't that I'm lacking confidence, or anything. It just seems odd that it's such a given. I don't know. Maybe I'm just way off in outerspace.

Whatever. I should have expanded and made an article out of it but hey, whatareyougonnado?

In any case, get ready to watch Kansas kick some big-time butt. The game is on VERSUS, which may or may not have been at fault for not being on DirecTV anymore. I don't know. In any case, I hope you have VERSUS. If not, I can covertly help you out, so nobody knows. Kind of like we're spies, or something.

And it better work tomorrow. Because if I can't see Duke get its' ass kicked, I just may cry.

I'll see you on the other side. I'm writing this the night before, because who knows when I'll be up. But I will promise you this: I'll be up by kickoff, and I'll be commenting throughout the game. Promise.

ROCK CHALK!

P.S. I suppose I should make a prediction, huh. Well, I'm feeling super-duper confident, so, well, let's say I'm going Kansas 49 Duke 14. We cover!

Any internet radio coverage of the game?

I just realized that DirecTV is in a pissing match with Comcast and is no longer carrying Versus…. Any Internet Radio that will carry the game live? 105.9 Lazer? KLWN? Any Dukie stations? Thanks

OK. That's awesome.

I remember being in Easter Vigil Mass in college once when we were in the tournament and the priest even said beforehand that he wished he could put a TV or radio on the altar during the whole thing.

Without a doubt.

It doesn’t matter if you think you can hit the FG, though.

You’re Duke. You’re entire team is offense, basically.

Go for the jugular. You have to do some extra special stuff to win. Might as well start now.

But you don’t hate the offense.

It has sucked big-time donkey balls today.

But it’s still a good offense.

Man, thank God he only had that one game suspension.

Because we fucking need him now.

What A CATCH

Great catch

Great pass, great catch.

I was watching Kerry the entire time, and that was hilarious.

Todd wanted to throw it to him the entire time, but the MLB stayed there and didn’t move. So he just lofted it right over his head.

And obviously, fabulous catch by Meier.

by rockchalk on Sep 19, 2009 12:35 PM CDT reply actions

We should have.

Though Mangino may just be happy with the 13 point lead. Patterson is sorta scary on punts.

by hunter s. royal on Sep 19, 2009 12:37 PM CDT up reply actions

I love Mangino

But the man is such a fat pussy. He never calls timeouts and the end of halfs to try and take a shot. Its really lame. We could have had decent field position and Briscoe has gotten every deep throw. Come on guys

by Andrew Clark on Sep 19, 2009 12:37 PM CDT up reply actions

Agreed.

He does go for it a bunch on 4th down, though, so at least he is willing to do that.

But I do agree. He’s in the vast majority of course, but still — more coaches need to grow bigger balls and go for it.

by rockchalk on Sep 19, 2009 12:39 PM CDT up reply actions

That was stupid.

We might as well have taken a shot.

But still, good comeback at the end.

I wouldn’t be shocked if they don’t score again the rest of the game.

by rockchalk on Sep 19, 2009 12:37 PM CDT reply actions

Yeah after the first drive our D has looked real good

doesn’t look like they got much a offense that can stretch the field. If our O can just get rolling consistently and we keep up the pass rush, all should be well.

Definitely.

And our offense is starting to pick itu p.

Half Time Thoughts

Looks like the 11 am start was a little early for the boys. Nothing like a good scare from Duke to wake em up. Things were coming together in 2Q. Let’s hope they keep it rolling!

I want our O to go out and tell Duke to piss off with a score

And Briscoe has a ball in his hands that will let him take a highlite real TD to the house

And drops it. Seriously, past few weeks too many mistakes. Drops, little things. Gotta get that fixed by Big12 play. Hell even next week, So Miss is tough
