Kansas Picks Up a Commitment at Linebacker

As KC eluded to the Jayhawks have added a major pickup in an area of need.  Jayhawkslant is reporting the commitment of Trayvon Henry out of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

Henry reported offers from Kansas, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Oklahoma State, Colorado and Texas Tech among others.  At one point this fall he actually committed to the OU staff but the OU Staff asked him to wait.  From the sounds of things Kansas and Bill Miller stayed on him, the relationship developed and this is a big plus at the linebacker spot for the future.

Henry measures 6'2" 220 and runs in the 4.6 forty range so he should be able to bring the athleticism at linebacker that the Big 12 is now commanding.  This is just another example of the Jayhawk staff stepping up the level of recruiting and going after some big targets.  Sure it's not as if we truly beat out OU, but this will be the third such commit that OU has shown serious interest in and this one for sure is an example of one they had offered.

One other item of note: Jimmay Mundine, who KC reported on, did pick up a high three star rating from rivals so that makes two 3* linebackers added to the position for the Jayhawks.  Also I think it's KU08 who might be interested to note that Henry is but another "Fighting 5.7".

Update #2....Strong hints that this might not be the end.

YES YES YES!!!

A bit of sobering thinking:
This is a guy that we are so excited about to get and, believe me, it IS HUGE to get him, but it just goes to show that we are still a step or three behind to OU’s, UT’s, etc. of the CFB., because OU told him to wait because they had MULTIPLE guys higher on their board already committed/ready to commit. Regardless, he is going to be a great one – NFL-type talent.

Now, back to your regularly scheduled celebration.

I doubt Rome, though… I was thinking DE, too. But, we don’t have room for anymore, really.

I will say this....

I know there is a lot of Justin McKay chatter and I have heard he is uneasy with his OU commitment. However I have also heard schools other than KU as the possible destination so it’s hard to say if that’s real or rumor.

I guess my thinking with McKay is I won’t be surprised if he decommits from OU, but I will be surprised if it’s to KU. Also, I will be very disappointed if it’s to who I’ve heard he’s favoring.
