The Jayhawk football staff has added a couple more names to the commitment list for the 2010 recruiting class. Antonio Burton committed over the holiday weekend and is a safety prospect the Jayhawks offered very early on. The other name that most recently committed is Trent Smiley who is a pretty exciting TE prospect standing 6'4" 225 with a reported 4.6 40 time. Smiley had offers from Florida State, Wake Forest and most recently was receiving heavy interest from Oklahoma. Sounds to me like a tight end cut in the mold of the guys Missouri has been so successful with recently.

yeah -

I saw that earlier today. Good stuff. Also checked on recruiting assignments for the coaches. Ed Warriner has a tough row to hoe.

I've got crazy flipper fingers!

I have a couple of theories on that....

first, do you send the big guns to the most difficult areas or do you let the guy that has to formulate the weekly gameplan stay closer to home. I guess I’m not sure?

Warriner has been a valuable recruiter and always seems to uncover some late big names.

But what really stood out to me was how everyone there got along. The family aspect really stuck out in my mind."

I’ve seen this from sooo many recruits. Even ones that aren’t signing with us say things similar to this. Pretty cool IMO.

Smiley

I like this signing a lot, good size and with that speed, he could also play in the slot a bit like Coffman at MU did, provide matchup problems with size and who is covering him. Does anyone have any dish on the QB signed?

Walker is the QB that is currently committed...

and while some say he’s more an athlete and should move positions, others have stood by him as a QB all the way…kind of a mystery depending on who you believe more.
