Recruiting Rumors Running Wild
A quick browse of the recruiting sites out there and one can easily catch up on everything Kansas. However today seems to be a particularly crazy day in recruiting and in the recruiting rumor mill.
First of Phog.net is reporting that Jimmy Mundine and outside linebacker recruit out of Dennison Texas has pulled the trigger and committed to the Kansas Jayhawks for the 2010 recruiting class.
Here's where things get interesting.
more after the jump...
A few days ago Jon Kirby from the Jayhawkslant ran a story regarding Mundine and his teammate, current Texas Tech commit Jaqwaylin Arps. In short, despite being committed Arps took a look at Kansas and Mundine says they'll play together in college. So, does that mean we can look for an Arps commitment to follow soon? Sounds like a strong possibility.
Now for another one floating out their from Sean Callahan with Husker Illustrated. I'm sure you all remember Keeston Terry. Sent me an email shortly after Kansas' Junior day with a pretty glowing commentary. I was a little shocked to see him commit to the Huskers, but now according to Husker Illustrated Terry is likely going to change that commitment from Nebraska to Kansas. Nothing confirmed at this point, but it's out there.
That would be three pretty big additions to our class that is shaping up to be a good one. Not to mention there is still a lot of buzz around guys like Donovan Vestal and Jatashun Beachum
If things keep going the way they are, this class and last class could be monsters in terms of positioning the Jayhawks for future success especially marked improvement on defense.

Can I just say...
…football season REALLY needs to start. I’m getting beyond antsy.
Great post, good to see we’re attracting some of the solid talent within the conference.
daddy like.
must get a Rivals subscription.
Are these all 3-star guys like the rest of the bunch?
I've got crazy flipper fingers!
also...
definitely if you are interested to know as it happens, the Slant is great and Scout has really stepped up lately as well. Hopefully you’ll keep hanging out here with us though to labba.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Think so...
his coach keeps saying nothing has been decided but McCay never talks about Kansas at all in his updates

send Beaty
to knock on his front door. And Bill Miller while we’re at it. This kid is going to be good, I can just feel it.

Sweet
I was hoping we would rope in some more depth at DE and LB, so this would be nice. Be nice if we could grab another OLman or two.
Any idea what Beachum would play in college? Maybe DLine?
Got some good news...
and it’s not really new as several sources have reported it but as Jayhawkslant has been pretty hush hush on things I wasn’t sure. Anyhow, got an email from Terry and I quote, “yeah I’m a commit for the Kansas Jayhawks and plan on stayin that way till i sign when it becomes offical”
I guess there is a slim chance this is an incorrect message but it’s the same one that gave me the quotes and info from Junior day and said he was headed to Nebraska not long ago. I’m pretty confident this is true and I’m certainly not the first to report it so I feel pretty good about it. Hopefully we’ll get an interview with Keeston in the near future.

yeah not sure what that's all about...
I guess technically I never talked to the guy, just exchanged an email. Regardless it’s not like I broke some big story or anything, the Slant for whatever reason has until now really been the only one not to confirm this so I’d say my quote’s pretty insignificant to anyone out there but those of us here at RCT.

question though -
I’m thrilled to get him and especially since he’s local kid its all the more significant – BUT…
Do we know why he’s a Rivals Top 250? He’s not all that big. He runs a plus 4.6 40. Scout says his route running and hands need some work. Am I missing something?
I've got crazy flipper fingers!
I wondered the same thing
and then I watched film on him….kid is a gamer….someone on the Slant board gave stats for a game between Blue Springs (Keeston) and Liberty (Marcus Lucas’s school who is rated higher than Terry on the 250)…he had 170 yds receiving…on D he guarded Lucas…had two int’s….I really don’t care about a kid’s 40 time anymore…when exactly are you going to run in a straight line for 40 yds in a game? Hail Mary route i guess…Denver do you see him playing in the secondary? I know JK said hes all receiver but you never know
he's been mentioned in the secondary ever since the Nebraska commitment...
makes me wonder if that might have been an underlying reason for the switch. Pure speculation on my part with that.

Yes yes yes
getting the good local talent is huge and Keeston is one I was pretty pissed got away to Nebraska of all places. I’m hoping that this rumor is true and if so, great great pickup, way to keep going after em staff!

Mmmmmmmmmmm
Thats great we got Keeston, Him plus the other WR that are frosh this year (and likely redshirting) means our WR corps for the future will be loooooooooooaded. Plus Toben and other younger RBs, a young offensive line…our offense should be potent into the future.
Gotta be optimistic with the talent coming in lately. Seems like this year’s class could be pretty special when its all said and done eh
Absolutely....
this is the first time I can remember where kids are almost jumping to get on board while they still can due to our limited scholarships. We’ve definitely seen an uptick in the talent coming into Lawrence and we’re setup for continued success, but it will still have to translate to the field in 2010, 2011 and 2012.

I don't get it...
All these kids jumping on board on the football team – do they think the NCAA’s gonna let not see what HCBS is doing – using the footbal team to stash even more recruits for the bball team – just another reason he’s the best in the country.
Because, after all……..
We are still a……..

Also Ricky Herod Jr.
another receiver who has already committed. HIgh 3 star guy that dominated at camps this summer.
sortuva
running joke with KC. He doesn’t want to admit that KU could be a 2-sport school…
I've got crazy flipper fingers!
KU? Two sport school?
Yeah it is kind of weird…it’ll likely take time. Maybe a little therapy. But I have faith KC can do it
Why limit the Jayhawks to two sports?
I frickin’ hate baseball, but our baseball team is headed in the right direction…..
Sawin' wood
Zack Bolton
just committed today. 3 star guard who was mvp of O-line at big camp this year. Also article came out saying Terry wasn’t KU commit yet. Says he likes them but not committing until after season.
