Ten KU football players to watch in preseason
Keegan looks at 10 guys to watch. Mostly posted this because of this:
7. Vernon Brooks, LB: A late addition from the junior-college ranks, Brooks chose KU instead of Oklahoma, Tennessee, Auburn and Tulsa. He plays the right position to earn immediate playing time if he shows well during workouts
Don't remember talking about this guy, anyone got anything besides what Keegan tells us? Damn, football can't come fast enough.

Good find
there’s a link in the comments section that points out the top senior WR in next year’s draft class. Kerry Meier is #15…
I've got crazy flipper fingers!
The news on Brooks just broke this week....
he is a late qualifying JUCO All American LB that is reportedly working out with the Jayhawks beginning July 5th. It’s been pretty quiet though because he is free to leave if he chooses prior to enrolling in the fall so I think the staff is leary of others catching wind, especially if programs like OU, Tennessee and Auburn were sniffing around. Word is OU was very heavily after him but he chose Kansas because of the opportunity to play immediately.
Could be a huge piece to the puzzle this year, but sometimes there can be an adjustment phase for JUCO players so we’ll see.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Springer
Really hoping he makes a full recovery from his injury. He looked good in mop up and showed he had the skill to step in and be a solid started at LB. I hadn’t even heard of Vernon Brooks…but more depth at LB can’t hurt!
We need a healthy Springer. He looked like he was ready to step in as a starter if needed last year prior to his injury. I have no idea when he’ll be ready to play but I hope he’s ready to go no later than the first conference game.
I'd expect...
Arist Wright to start at the beginning of the season if not the majority of it.
Here’s my list of in the mix guys in terms of pushing for a starting spot….
Wright
Quigley
Springer
Brooks
S. Johnson
J Shermer
