2009-10 PRESEASON RANKS
Check these ouT!
ROCK CHALK JAYHAWK!
1) Kansas- This is a virtually inarguable pick. The Jayhaws (27-8, 14-2) were bounced in the Sweet 16 last year by National Runner-Up Michigan State, but return all five starters and practically their entire bench. Sherron Collins has one more year of running the point under his belt and Cole Aldrich brings an experienced post presence to a team that will certainly have a fair shot at cutting down the nets in nine months.
Also of note, while retaining the bulk of his rotation, Bill self also managed to snag top Recruits Xavier Henry (SG, Rivals top 150 #8), and Elijah Johnson (PG, Rivals top 150 #24). His 2009 class is ranked the fifth-best in the country by ESPN.

No mention of Thomas Robinson. Can’t wait for him to hit the court, and people are gonna be like, “WTF, who is that BEAST?!?!?! OMG, he’s like Tyler Hansbrough with actual skillZ!!!”

yeah noticed that too KC
didn’t even mention the awesome big man we’ve got coming in too.
Hey what’s the deal, you only comment on basketball related content? So I guess you won’t be attending any tailgates or games this fall in preperation for being a basketball school?

Haha, what do you mean?
I comment on football threads… I have been really busy lately and probably haven’t commented on here more than 20 times in the last 2 months.
And, do you REALLY think that I would miss TAILGATING A.K.A. chance to get drunk….

I agree KC
Although T-Rob may not get a ton of PT with our depth at the post, compared to Elijah who could spell Sherron a bit at point (especially early in the season in games we may have a big lead), but down the road Robinson will be a dangerous PF. Him with a bulked up Withley controlling the paint (and the Morris twins) means our depth at post is looking real good into the future
Don't forget a senior Cole Aldrich :D

Do you people
just love the hear yourself talk? Seriously, I thought Misery fans were bad with how irrational they are and how much they have a hard on for KU. But, this is ridiculous.
You have been IRRELEVANT for nearly 5 years now. You had a HOF coach in Tubby Smith (WHO WON A TITLE) and you ran him out of town. He was the greatest thing in the world back then, huh? So was Billy G when he was first hired. You guys were so happy that you had that young, top prospect of a coach and were so ready to win multiple titles…. SPLAT! Now you got the ultimate shady dude and you think it’s gonna be different? Why? What’s better about Calipari? He cheats and doesn’t get caught?
Seriously, Kentucky fan (ALL OF YOU), get a life, get over yourselves and please realize that even your shit does stink, too – just like the rest of the world. And, spare me the “all-time winningest program” bullshit. That’s a crutch for a fallen program and a maniacal fanbase that wouldn’t admit that they had a drug problem if you were sprinkiling crack on your cereal instead of sugar.
Your collection of one-and-done players don’t give a shit about playing for Kentucky. They are there because Calipari and how he gets players to The League. None of them even want to be in college period, but for the NBA they have to. It has nothing to do with your “storied program” and how you have “the best fanbase in the country.” It’s about the $$$. They will not mesh together and be competitive against a close-knit squad with even close to comparable talent. The first time John Wall jacks up a contested three instead of throwing it into Orton in the post, he’s gonna whine and bitch and sulk all the way down the court and then you’ll turn your back on him – just like you did Tubby Smith. (By the way, that Tubby sure can coach. He’s made Minnesota competitive.)
God, I hate Kentucky fan more than Misery fan. (Right now, at least.)

It was a joke.
I guess adding a :) makes all the difference in the world.
I’m not here to argue with you, but some myths I just cannot let go by….Tubby was not run out of town. He resigned to the well wishes of the bluegrass, both from people who were happy to see him go and from his many MANY supporters all across the bluegrass because he still had MANY supporters. The fact is his final years were absolutly an embarressment when it came to recruiting, and both him and the school realized it was best for him to part ways. We here wish him all the well and hope he does well in Minnesota. Kentucky went from an upbeat style of play with Pitino to a slow half court with Tubby and fans didn’t want that style of play. Finally, Tubby bowed out gracefully and I for one hope he wins the Big 10 this year. All in all, both parties benefited.
Billy G was…well he was Billy G. Insulting players, calling them crybabys, throwing diapers at players because they couldn’t take his non stop verbal abuse..enough was enough and we are glad hes gone. Billy G is the one who was run out if anyone ever was, hence this ongoing lawsuit.
As for your comments about stuff I never said and regret that it is the view of my team, well, I guess you said it all.
Glad to be apart of Rock Chalk Talk ;)

Well
my apologies for jumping all over you there. That :) would have been a good sign that you were being tounge-in-cheek. It kinda came across as many UK fans that I have read since the Calipari hiring.
I don’t claim to be an expert or know all that much about the Tubby situation or even much about Gillespie – although, I do think Billy G was/is a good coach.
Also, would you agree that much of what I said seems to be somewhat the majority opinion of the UK fanbase? Obviously, you are the exception and seem reasonable. So, more than glad to have you here at RCT!

No problem.
I’ll tell you right now you definetly hit on some things that a lot of fans think (regretfully). I’m just one of many from A Sea of Blue, so we aren’t all crazy hillbillies with half brains. ha. Tubby was an interesting case and I for one love him for his time and energy here, but his last years he sputtered and it was time for a change. I dont care what people say or think about billy G but Tubby I’ll break it down for you.
He did awesome when he came. Won a natl champ, took us to final fours, won SEC titles, but as the years passed, we saw less and less of that. It wasn’t that we ran him out, it was we (UK) saw what the future was bringing with the recruits and so on, so it was time for a change.
Sadly, a lot of our fanatics screama nd rant and make it seem like all we care about is winning (hence why many think we hired Calipari. I respectfully disagree)
All I want, truth be told, is for Uk basketball to be fun again. I don’t disagree by any stretch that UK was irrelevant the last 5 years..I think irreleveant is a nice word for it actaully ahah. I want the fast paced tempo. I want high scoring games. We haven’t seen that here since 2003. Just glad to be talked about again!
I think you're gonna have fun again with Coach Cal
Glad to see some interaction between our blogs, because I think ASOB is one of the better SB Nation sites. Hopefully UK & KU have a final four matchup next year because I think it would be great for college b-ball. Let’s get the focus off of the east coast and back to the cradle of basketball where the attention belongs. Calipari may be a bit slick, but he seems a perfect match for UK and he and Bill Self should battle it out for national titles for years to come.

I would sacrifice the entire season
to see the final 4 between UK/Kansas and Duke/UNC
Of course UK winning it all ;)
Which wouldn't happen
;)
If you don't eat your meat, you can't have any pudding! HOW can you have any pudding if you don't eat your meat?!
I wouldn't count on your dream final 4 Bleedin
Apart from Kentucky’s struggles which my former hawks have discussed earlier in this thread, when is the last time Duke did anything in the torny? When Shane Battier was on the team? Not that seeing Puke tap out early every year doesn’t give me a big smile…
Our past is behind us.
UNC stuggled even worse than us in the early 2000s and look at them now. The natural order of things must be restored, and I can only hope that means UK vs. Kansas for the national champ.
Puke is just that…slow tempo with slow games. Makes me want to puke. I’m with you 100% on that.
