Big-12 Tournament Game #1: Kansas vs. Kansas State

Narodowski flies out to open the game.

I am listening to the KLWN broadcast with Tom Hedrick and Mike Cummings. They are about 10 seconds ahead of the video.

Shaeffer Hall sets down the Wildcats in order.

David Narodowski completely fooled the camera man in the inning. Carter Jurica hit a ground ball to the 6-5 hole. The camera man panned to the outfield having no clue that Nardowski would get to it and throw out Jurica at 1st.

Thompson – Double off the centerfield wall.
Lytle – F9. 1 out.
Land – L6. 2 outs.
Elgie – K. End of inning.
KU wastes lead off double.

Both team’s threaten in the 3rd inning but fail to score.

Thompson – ground rule double to left. Tony now 2-2 with 2 doubles.
Lytle – sharp single to left. Thompson to third.
Land – F7. Too shallow to get the run in. 1 out.
Elgie – K. 2 outs. Big K with a runner at third and one out.
Brunansky – G4-3. End of inning.
KU has failed to score despite hitting 2 doubles and 4 singles in four innings. Runners left in scoring position in three of the four innings.

Narodowski leds off the 5th with a solo jack to open the scoring. Finally KU dents the plate.

Jurica – Single to left. RBI. Munster to 2nd. Tie game 4-4. Runners at 1st and 2nd.
Martini – K looking. Nice outside pitch breaking away from batter. 2 outs.
Bloxom – G4-3. End of inning.

Sloppy defense by the Hawks allow the Wildcats to tie it up. KU has 14 hits and only 4 runs.

I know you have other obligations usually, but you should get some sort of press credentials to cover this, that would be damn cool.

Vaughn – single falls in front of Brunansky. Bruno lets the ball get away from him and Cruz scores. Bruno does not play the tweener well again. He’s had a lot of trouble with that all year long. Vaugh to 2nd. Official scorer calls it a double but it probably was a single with the extra base by Vaughn and Cuz both on an E8. KSU up 5-4.

KU got 15 hits but only 4 runs. Late KU defensive mistakes made the difference.
