As good a job as the guy did this year...

I think Mike Anderson might be a bit to high on this based on only one season of success. If it continues, which I think it will then maybe he’d fit in that almost there category but I don’t think so yet…

oh and yeah, been pretty quiet around here lately…love the baseball stuff from JQ but I’m not a huge baseball guy so it’s hard for me to truly contribute….only 4 months till football season I suppose.

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.

yea it's been quiet..

but sometimes in football and basketball offseasons no news is good news

Hmmmm...

Not really impressed with this guy’s analysis. It’s nice in a “big picture” kinda way, but there’s so much more that could be delved into here.

The interesting thing to me about college basketball coaches is all the different jobs they have to do- they’re the GM, the team psychologist, the skills developer, the in-game strategist, etc.

You can’t just lump a Bryce Drew in with a Pat Knight without acknowledging the MAJOR differences in recruiting. Baylor’s steady pickup of High School All Americans eventually WILL pay off. There’s far more hope for that program than there is for a Texas A&M or even an Oklahoma State, IMO. On the other hand, at what point do we start questioning Rick Barnes’ ability to take advantage of the copious amounts of talent he has at his disposal?

I’d like to see someone tackle this project- really get into the strengths and weaknesses of every coach in the Big 12, or perhaps at the elite programs around the country.

Agreed.

I was really excited for this little mini-series, particularly because I’m a big fan of Eamonn’s work. But, all of this “analysis” was very minimal. Not really anything more than your average fan could have come up with, ranking-wise and stuff.

Interesting stuff.

The guy’s kind of winging it, but he at least gives us some talking points. I think Doc Sadler deserves a little more respect, since he’s a good coach, and if they’re half-ass decent the fans will show up. McDermott looks like a complete disaster to me. I hate to admit it, but Martin at K-State has some potential. He can recruit, and that makes up for a lot of blundering in the coaching box. Barnes is a goofy guy. Immense talent there(which he obviously gets credit for recruiting) but they seem to be slipping the last few years. He’s got another monster class coming in, and he could either step up with another final 4 or if they under-achieve again, he could sabotage his rep.

I think Barnes is perfect for UT

much in the same way Mack Brown is. Both guys are great at recruiting, but when it comes to getting the job done when it matters, both guys have a long history of failure. While Brown obviously gets kudos for winning a national championship, it took an all-time college great to get him there, and even then it was just barely. Both guys win enough games to stick around, but not enough big games to really be thrown into the elite category (though I think Brown is much, much closer than Barnes).

I miss all of you guys.

Game threads on other sites have been… interesting?

Got used to intelligent (well before KC came around) and witty banter. Feels like I have to get back down to this level.

If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.

Agreed.

Having spent countless hours on both RR and AP OGT’s in the past (although, I really don’t do too much AP anymore), it was awesome to have such awesome OGT’s here at RCT.

Eventually, hopefully I can get off of my ass and actually post something. I’m a terrible blogger for a team/school, though, because I am a very seasonal kind of guy. Particularly when the Royals were high-flying, I thought about them (and read more about them, etc.) by a large margin over the off-season happenings in Jayhawkland.

I’m working on it, but we’ll see.

Miss us?

With the sparkling wit of GobbleforCyoung and TooLegittoshit over at the Royals Review game threads? I’m shocked!(maybe we can get rockchalk barred over there and he’ll have to work on this site. :D)

man,

I was kind of excited about last night. Had nothing going on and was looking forward to a game and a good OGT and I was left with well…go through the thread.

If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.

by Warden11 on May 15, 2009 7:42 PM CDT up reply actions

Yes,

I was following the thread. It’s been ugly. Sometimes the vitriol gets pretty funny, but as the streak drags on, it’s just getting depressing. I blame rockchalk. The slide started when he went to the Angels games……………

speaking of that guy,

I just got an idea for a Fanpost.

If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.
