True Blue Kentucky -- Henrys Committed to Kansas???
Believe it or don't. Personally, I'm not entirely buying it, although I do think that there is a bigger chance that the Henrys are coming to Lawerence.
In any case, this is the Wednesday OGT KC was requesting, or whatever. Whatever happens in the Xavier Henry saga, this is the place to talk about it.

Wasn't it rumored that...
CJ gave a soft verbal to Self when Self went down to visit him in Memphis?
Again lots of smoke around this...
The Shiver and Memphis Roar the ESPN affiliates for KU and Memphis respectively both are reporting it a done deal with an announcement likely today.
Also the Slant hasn’t confirmed anything but is giving strong hints that something might happen today.
and of course there is an assortment of Kentucky sites saying it’s Kansas as well as Zagsblog.
I know this has been up and down but I do believe this is the first time that there has been this much activity focused on saying that it’s a done deal to a particular school.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
and now Fox Sports is in on the act...
Xavier Henry, brother pick Kansas

quote from the article...
“It’s done,” said one source. “He and C.J. told everyone last night.”

"said one source"
I know from the Fiasco Known As Jay Cutler how much “sources” drive me up a fucking wall.
by A.J. Haefele on Apr 22, 2009 10:16 AM CDT up reply actions
yes but it turns out that most of those sources were...
seemingly correct…the folks at MHR hated sources so much because they were saying it was a bad situation while the Bronco community wanted to believe it was less than it was and would be resolved…I guess we now know who was more on the money…the sources.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Actually
the “sources” were all over the place on any given day, sometimes changing stances on the same day. I’ve already voiced my thoughts on the lunacy that was the Broncos community during that obnoxious time frame, but it doesn’t make the anonymous source who could just as easily be a fucking janitory with dumbo ears. I am never trusting them again.

Part of my post got lost
because my train of thought was derailed by trying to see how hard i could slam the keys while typing out how much I hate them. Fuck it. They can all suck it.

I understand your announance with sources...
but I do believe they have a place and it’s probably more important who is reporting the source than anything. For instance during the whole Broncos thing Adam Shefter seemed pretty reliable from the early stages regardless of his “sources”
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Schefter
is a great reporter who keeps his nose to the grindstone at all times. Replacing him with Bill freaking Williamson damn near killed my love of the Denver Post. I hate that ESPN can swoop in and grab every single reporter because in a down economy they have the most weight to throw around.
Now I can’t avoid ESPN and the insanely overrated Chris Mortensen, who should have retired along with Madden now that their lovechild Favre is gone, by slinking off to get the real scoop from Schefter.
by A.J. Haefele on Apr 22, 2009 10:31 AM CDT up reply actions
I really enjoy Shefter as well....
and I’ve always enjoyed Schlereth for NFL as well
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Schefter is the MAN.
I absolutely love that guy.
Schlereth and everyone ESPN employs pretty much sucks.
I do love one comment
from the originally linked True Blue Kentucky “article”:
“Obviously they put the screws into Xavier after it became apparent he wanted to visit Kentucky this weekend. I would love to see Kansas on the schedule next season. We owe them a few poundings as is.”
Do they somehow think they would win that matchup, especially if Meeks and Patterson bolt?
I'm thinking they are crazy...
minus Meeks and Patterson, Kentucky might be looking at a score similar to 89’
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
That would be awesome.
Really, really awesome.

I would also like to point out
since this has basically been me hijacking myself in order to reply to myself and get myself all worked up (hotttt), that KC probably can’t make it to his own thread due to hangover. I mean, did you READ his posts last night???
Talkin' about me again?
Makes me feel all warm and special inside :D

on a tuesday night no less...
he’s clearly taking the Henry saga hard, or else he’s celebrating the fact that the Royals are currently tied for first place…sure it’s early and sure it’s a 3 way but the Royals are still in 1st.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Celebrating the Royals?!?
No way, man. I know them. I know what they are gonna do. I know that Kyle Farnsworth is still on the roster, and Trey “undefendable” Hillman is still the manager, so we are going no where.

TOMORROW?!?!
Ah, fuck me!!! How many times can the Henry’s change their mind in basically 24 hours???
Over/under: 2 1/2. (Hint: If it’s an even number, it’s good for us, if it’s an odd, it’f bad for us.)

another 24 hours means likely...
7-9 mind changing moments…fortunately if reports are true that they’ve informed the coaches I’m thinking it’s going to be a little tougher to do that.

Nah, Carl Henry backs down
from no man, when it comes to mis-feeding info.
So, what’s a lineup look like now?
PG – Sherron / EJ / CJ (in that order)
SG – T2 / Relly Ice
SF – Xavier / Morris-Brady
PF – Morris / T-Rob (I think T-Rob starts by the end of the year. He is a MAN)
C – Some guy named… Cole? / Withey.
We are FUCKING LOADED!!!

I think CJ
is the underrated piece of this whole puzzle. When X rollbounces to the NBA, what does CJ do?
by A.J. Haefele on Apr 22, 2009 10:59 AM CDT up reply actions
He has to stay.
He’s not gonna get drafted in the NBA, and he has to get a degree SOMEWHERE.

Sweet.
So when X bails, CJ can play a nice Michael Lee-esque role for us.
by A.J. Haefele on Apr 22, 2009 11:05 AM CDT up reply actions
You sound like you feel
about the same about X as I do. Whether he comes or not, he won’t have a HUGE impact like most think he will. He’s gonna be here one year, and gone. In the grand scheme of things in Kansas history, he won’t even be a blip on the radar.

Ehhhh.
I want Stephenson, really. I won’t complain about X, of course, but it seemed like X is DETERMINED to go to the NBA and soon. I don’t think KU is that kind of school, so he better be absolutely sure he wants to be a Jayhawk.
by A.J. Haefele on Apr 22, 2009 11:22 AM CDT up reply actions
My thoughts EXACTLY.
THe perception was that Lance was the “ME GUY”, but it seems like X is maybe even more so than Lance.
For the record, I prefer Lance over X.

Honestly
I think the whole perception of a player’s selfishness when he’s in high school is totally blown up. Almost all of these kids are going to be living large when they are stud athletes and hear the whispers of the lifestyle of millionaires following them. I know I’d be getting a dose of the gimmes if the world was at my fingertips on a scale of that magnitude.
My preference for Lance is because I think he’ll stay for 3 years and his game will match up better for the guys we have. That said, again, I have no objection to X.

I'd like to see T2 pick up that particular ability
during the offseason.
Bold prediction time: By the time T2 has finished his 4-year career at Kansas, he will be First Team All Big 12, First Team All American, and mentioned in the same breath with other Kansas point guards, such as Jacque Vaughn and Aaron Miles.
I cannot wait to see the jump he makes from his freshman year to his sophomore year!

Meh, say what you will,
but we all know that I have NEVER been wrong about anything on this site before :D
But, I suppose you are right, somewhat, but not based on his own accord, though. Now that I think about it, Sherron being here next year will kinda “cramp his style” and limit what he can do. But, T2 is ready to EXPLODE onto the scene, though.

That's not really a bold prediction, IMO.
To say he’ll be first team Big 12 next year would be.
But I’m quite certain that at some point, he’ll be First Team. Unless it’s a situation like last last year, when everyone’s votes canceled each other out, or whatever.

I know it's been a ridiculous process, but...
Guys, we really should get excited about this if everything works out. This kid has more potential than any KU recruit…maybe ever.
If you check out some of his highlight tapes on Youtube, the thing you’ll notice most is just how powerful he seems. Every shot has him getting slashed by guards, but having the strength to power through it and finish. He really is a MAN at such a young age. It wouldn’t shock me to see him play the 4 at some points next year in a small ball lineup:
Sherron
Ty Tay
Elijah
X
Cole/ McMorris
Just thinking about that kind of firepower gives me goosebumps.
And don’t discount the left handed factor- he seems to have the slashing ability of a famous southpaw former Jayhawk… Keith Langford. Only with a better jumper. And bigger. Wow.
I just hope he has more of a killer instinct than Brandon Rush did- having all the talent in the world doesn’t mean much if you aren’t willing to assert yourself out there. Of course, if that’s an issue, maybe we’ll get the pleasure of his company for more than one year. Well, we can dream about that, anyways.
Let the dreams begin.

I think the power and strength you mention is the first thing I notice about X...
he’s got an NBA body as a high school kid, he scores going to the basket, shooting from outside and he’s a lefty which is always fun…it’s definitely an exciting time to be a Jayhawk.
