For KC Area Fans: Jayhawk TV Network switching affiliates
FYI - A different channel in Kansas City (KSMO) will be carrying KU basketball games shown on the Jayhawk TV Network as well as the coaches shows for Bill Self and Mark Mangino. KSMO is associated with KCTV - the CBS affiliate in KC. In case you're curious, the Jayhawk TV Network typically only shows the 2 exhibition games and a small number of low profile non-conference games. Last year, the Coppin State, New Mexico State, Jackson State, and Siena games where broadcast over the Jayhawk TV Network. These are the games that are horribly announced (in my opinion) by Dave Armstrong and Greg Gurley. All other games last year were on ESPN/ABC afilliates, CBS, or the Big 12 Network. While not a big deal, I hope this change at least means better picture quality for the fans in KC and increased revenue for KU. I thought the picture quality sucked on the old Jayhawk Network affiliate (KMCI) in KC (at least it sucked when trying to watch it on a HDTV). I'm probably SOL when it comes to the announcers since the Jayhawk Network chooses them.
