Big XII Mens Basketball Awards Announced
Here's a link to the Big XII site where they list they awards.
The Jayhawks did pretty well for themselves in a "rebuilding" year (I say that as a joke nowadays): Coletrane got Co-Defensive Player of the Year with J.T. Tiller, Bill Self got COY, and both Sherron and Cole were First-Team All-Big XII (with Sherron and Blake Griffin as the only unanimous selections, which is very cool). In addition, Tyshawn and McMorris were named to the All-Rookie team too.
Anyone else think its funny that this year we get two First-teamers and last year we had none?
All in all, I think that our guys got the recognition they deserved. Would have been nice to see TSquared get Honorable mention, but he was pretty inconsistent for most of Big XII play.
Rock Chalk and good luck to these guys in the Big XII Tournament!

I believe they were all deserved, J.T. Tiller and Cole both deserved it, tiller is a hell of a lockdown defender, and cole makes everything hard to come by in the paint.
Sherron and Cole also deserved the first team, i mean Avging a double double, and the unquestion leader that average 18+ ppg deserve it for the big XII champs.
the thing is when it comes to last years team, it would have been unfair to select anyone off the team, if you pick one there are 5 more guys with nearly the same stats and the same importance to the team.. so last years kansas team was basically all 1st team all big XII

Thanks for the link...
Self deserved this one big time
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.

That's what we do at Kansas, we WIN.

I'm guessing;
Coach of the year future hall of famer national championship head coach Bill Self. I think a few of the letters got switched by bt01. Running joke here to come up with fancy initial names for Self.

"I log on to RCT after school, and I see the 228 comments on this thread. I actually immediately panicked, because knowing KC, I figured some other fan from another school (most likely Mizzou) came over and said something stupid. Then, KC freaked out at him, and said something stupid (no offense, KC, but this really wouldn’t be that extraordinary for you to pull off) and then there was mass hysteria. I would have to ban people, and warn people, and it’d be mass chaos." - SlowDance
+1

Ugh.
It seems like everything I do/say these days is getting me in trouble.

Don't worry, I don't think he's that cold-blooded.
Plus, your 4000 posts a month make the site look good.

I'm a little wary
of doing my next OGT after the Tech game, when I WENT OFF about Brady being so horrible that night. He won’t say it, and I know he’ll read this, but I know I’m skating on thin ice right now.
So, SlowDance… ehem… I mean, rockchalk, I’ll be minding my P’s and Q’s :D

No, you're good.
It’s just, like I said at the time, I don’t want to fall to that level. We were all pissed, and that’s why the comment didn’t even get deleted or anything, just wanted to make sure everyone knew where the boundaries were.
Trust me, I’m not banning you just because you get a little loose under the collar. I just sometimes have to reign you in. All good, though. And no, BAMF is fine. I’m pretty chill about the curse words, for the most part, particularly compared to most. It’s just not ever appropriate to call other people that in a negative context.
And yes, obviously I’m reading this. Think of me as Big Brother…

I think it makes a lot of sense. Last year was a complete team where everyone played a role and as a collective unit didn’t usually need on player to take over a game on any given night. As a result, individual numbers were deflated. Sorta like what happend to TyTay in High School. He was the 4th leading scorer on the team but was overall the best of the bunch.
This year, we’ve needed to rely on Sherrizie and Cole to step up on an individual basis.
The Snozberries taste like Snozberries
Obvious choice of Self.
Especially considering the troubles of teams like Florida & Syracuse to rebuild after their championships. Sherron & Cole deserve first team together because they’re somewhat inseperable. If they both don’t play at least moderately well, we almost can’t win against solid teams.
