Kansas baseball suspended UPDATED

From the Baseball Office:

Due to wet playing conditions after receiving heavy rain throughout the night, the Kansas baseball team will move the start time for play Sunday back to 1 p.m. KU and Northwestern will complete the suspended game from Saturday night, but will not play a fourth game of the series, originally scheduled to be played Sunday afternoon.

The Jayhawks lead the suspended game, 2-1, with runners on first and second and one out in the bottom of the third. Fans can gain admission to the game by bringing their ticket stubs from Saturday evening's game as well as tickets to Sunday's scheduled contest.

Updated Sunday morning.

A shame the series will be cut down to three games now.  Kansas now will be able to add two games to their schedule.  Earlier they had to eliminate a game vs. Bradley which was to be played in Tennessee.  Hopefully KU will be able to find NCAA D-I opponents for these games.  I would like to see them add an additional home and home with Wichita State, but that is just my hope.  If they cannot find NCAA D-I opponents Price will most likely add home games vs. area NAIA teams such as Baker and St. Mary's.

Wonder how the crowd was before the suspension.

They were taking BP as everyone was leaving the Fieldhouse.

It was a beautiful night at Hoglund.

A great spring night. 60ish degrees, light breeze. I think most people knew there was a very good chance they would be leaving early. All day long it felt like rain. I guess there were about 400 people there so it was a light crowd. But, like I said, I think most people were not expecting to see a lot of baseball tonight. As soon as the umpire saw lightning he stopped the game. It was kinda sudden. Apparently there is an NCAA rule about this.

It was a shame they didn’t start the game at 5PM. I am sure they could have gotten the whole game in if they started at that time.

Yeah,

when I was walking out and looked back towards the west, the sky was pretty dark.
