Nothing?

That is somewhat shocking.

Dayton up by 6 early on West Virginia (GO FLYERS!)…

Pitt only up 1 on East Tennessee State (GO BUCS!)…

Arizona State up 9 on Temple at half (GO OWLS!)…

Missouri up 5 on Cornell (GO BIG RED!)…although go Big 12, too.

Everybody will be back in a bit, I bet.

We all just needed to take a postgame blow, and relax for a bit. Second half of the Misery game should be booming.

My thoughts looking back on the game

After beating NDSU, and surviving that onslaught of white boy shooting, I am not NEARLY as worried about a potential WVU matchup next round. Sure, WVU is a better team, but what seems to kill KU more often than anything is the other team have that one guy that goes off and torches us. Ruoff could do it for WVU, but he is no Woodside. Woodside could do it all: shoot the 3, get to the basket by any means possible. We don’t really have a guy that can shut down the multi dimentional player. But, what we do have is a guy that can stick on a pure shooter and stop him.

Agreed.

Both DAyton and West Virginia are TERRIBLE shooting teams, for the most part.

Both are incredible on D, and both have plenty of size and length and really good mid-range games.

But besides Ruoff for WVU, no one can really knock down shots for either team.

by rockchalk on Mar 20, 2009 2:37 PM CDT up reply actions

That NDSU game should be

the toughest one we play in Minny this weekend. Its just so hard to keep up with a team when a guy is going off like BW was.

If Sherron can keep that hot shooting going from today, then I feel like we can beat anybody. We go as Sherron goes. Well, Sherron was REALLY going today. Elite Eight or bust!

here's my question

he really impressed me, is he a pro player you think?

by I need more Esteban on Mar 20, 2009 2:38 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't think so.

Perhaps a backup point, but that’s his ceiling.

He doesn’t play defense at all, really. And while his offense is insane, and his little runner is unstoppable, he’s not consistent enough of a shooter IMO.

by rockchalk on Mar 20, 2009 2:39 PM CDT up reply actions

Woodside is probably...

too small to get a look…there’s a reason the only comparison they could come up with was Steve Nash

I'm really surprised by MU v Cornell...

although I’ve said it before and I’ll say it again Missouri is a 2nd half team…they are shooting pretty poorly right now but I’d feel comfortable saying they’ll be scoring 40 in the 2nd half.

But right now, up four at halftime? UP four? I’m feeling alright.

We love this stat over at RMN: Mizzou is 27-1 in games that they don’t trail by double-digits at halftime.

One of my KU friends says that he would take Woodside over Sherron any day. (He’s not the biggest Sherron fan, keep in mind.) I think BW is ok but all he has is that runner.

I wouldn't say that's all he has

he was surprisingly fast….I wouldn’t take him over Sherron, but Sherron’s decision making definitely makes me mad sometimes, you gotta think on a good team, Woodside would be pretty crazy…then again, maybe on a good team he never realizes his potential

by I need more Esteban on Mar 20, 2009 2:50 PM CDT up reply actions

I'd take Sherron.

But Woodside might be the better scorer.

I love Sherron, and he’s definitely more of a leader and was huge for our team this year, obviously.

But Woodside shoots 45% from three, drove to the bucket at will and has the unstoppable runner. Sherron settles for too many jumpers, honestly.

I’d still take Sherron, but Woodside probably is a better overall player on offense. Dude can’t play D worth a shit, though.

Bingo.

I disagree entirely.

Woodside would be even better here, with the increase in surrounding talent. Obviously, his stats would go down, but I think he’d be a better player.

They are awfully even, to me.

+1

he’d probably pass a lot more with more talent around him….guess it’s kind of hypothetical, though….at one point in the game I saw him really trying to find his teammates but they weren’t really coming through….kind of like Mayner for VCU last night

How bad does everybody want to play Dayton instead of WVU?

I almost think that we would be better off, for next week’s purposes, if we played the better team in WVU. We play a weaker team like Dayton, and I can see the guys getting lacksidasical, kinda like they did at the end of Big 12 play, thinking that they are better than they are because they are in the Sweet 16, and they haven’t really played a really good team.

I'm pretty sure that is called "overthinking".

I highly, highly doubt we’ll ever get lacksidasical.

Dayton is a damn good team, and could easily whip us up by double figures.

Again?

That’s alright, though. You were scared today, and it worked out.

Just be sure and post that same Pac Life video in the OGT, again.

"I log on to RCT after school, and I see the 228 comments on this thread. I actually immediately panicked, because knowing KC, I figured some other fan from another school (most likely Mizzou) came over and said something stupid. Then, KC freaked out at him, and said something stupid (no offense, KC, but this really wouldn’t be that extraordinary for you to pull off) and then there was mass hysteria. I would have to ban people, and warn people, and it’d be mass chaos." - SlowDance

Haha.

In the Tournament, I am always convinced the other team will win.

Last year, I was positive that we were going to lose to UNLV. Then VIllanova. Then Davidson.

It’s just how my mind processes things in March.

Yes, I really am scared.

Welp, my bracket is officially fucked. Hahaha

I had WVU in the Sweet 16.

Not for a single dollar.

Haha, jk. I just didn’t see us beating them. But, after today, I think we woulda had no problem at all with ’em.

I had us beating them in every bracket EXCEPT

the RCT one.

In that one, I had them going to the Elite Eight. So, whatever.

I'm moving up.

2nd now in the Royals Review bracket. Though NYRoyal probably won’t let Will give a KU fan a shirt.

Another example of the ridiculousness of Missouri fans...

or maybe I should specify in saying the folks on tigerboard…

All week it’s been “oh Kansas is going to lose by 15-20 blah blah blah….”

now we go out an win and there saying “Kansas could only win by 10 and we won big, NDSU is so much worse than Cornell, KU should have won by 40”…

I don’t want to generalize at all here but the guys at tigerboard might be the most ridiculous message board I’ve ever seen in my life…ever

Question

I’ve never understood why any Kansas fans go over there.

Like, ever. Sure, I mean, if you wanna laugh at it, but I really don’t see the point in going over there then getting riled up about what they say.

That’s just me, though.

by rockchalk on Mar 20, 2009 4:24 PM CDT up reply actions

I don't normally...

just thought a congrats after their Big12 tourney win was in order and my congrats was met with a bunch of F you’s etc…so I started watching it a little this week.

Oh, OK.

That makes perfect sense.

And, typical of the lowest form of life that occupies Tigerboard.

by rockchalk on Mar 20, 2009 4:28 PM CDT up reply actions

yep...I think I will be deleting it from my history...

if I want to talk about Mizzou I’ll go over to RMN…at least they’re reasonable geez

by Owen on Mar 20, 2009 4:29 PM CDT up reply actions

I knew that was coming...

The whole KU by 10, us by alot thing. So stupid. Still, they get a tourney win, and all they can think about and talk about is KU. They like to talk about KU more than WE do!

Big East was undefeated until West Virginia lost.

Everyone else with a decent amount of bids has lost, so far…

by rockchalk on Mar 20, 2009 4:38 PM CDT up reply actions

Big East lost West Va, so they're no longer undefeated.

ACC lost Clemson
Big 10 lost Illinois and Minnesota

Pretty sure Big XII is the only undefeated major conference.

Sherron Collins-

“He was probably the best guard I played against all year. Coach told me he was good. But, I didn’t know he was that good.” About Woodside, of course.

Here are the records for every conference

that has played more than one game, so far.

Big 12 — 6-0
Big East — 4-1
ACC — 3-1
Big 10/11 — 2-1
SEC — 1-2
Pac 10 — 3-1
MWC — 1-1

At least, I think that is how it’s gone so far.

by rockchalk on Mar 20, 2009 4:43 PM CDT reply actions

Here are the rest:

A-10 — 1-0 (still to play: Xavier)
WCC — 1-0 (no one)
C-USA — 1-0 (no one)
Horizon — 1-0 (Cleveland State)

As for the above conferences, the Big 12 is done with remaining first round games:

Big East — Louisville.
ACC — Florida State, Wake Forest and Boston College.
Big 10/11 — Wisconsin, Michigan State and Ohio State.
SEC — Absolutely nothing
Pac 10 — USC

And I was wrong on two above:

Big East is 5-1
Big 10/11 is 2-2

There extended streak of not making it cost them the top spot, I suppose.

not sure if anyone else is here, i was just gonna see if people are still keeping up with warden's game

if my simple addition is correct i think i got 43 with 2 teams already eliminated and 2 yet to play

I have 26.

With a potential 35 points on the line tonight, with Arizona USC and Cleveland State.
