After looking at the bracket and looking some more, I'm still clueless. I always am at bracket time (although I also always find a way to win). There are a few problems I have with the typical bracket games. For example, lets say someone picks Louisville to win it all. Louisville is upset in the Sweet 16, you are now down an automatic 60 points! Thanks for playing, we'll see ya later! The other problem is early round scoring, 1 points for picking the first round games correct. You can pick 3/4 of the games wrong and be fine, as long as you correctly pick the Final Four and Championship.
Don't get me wrong, the winner should have the Championship game correctly picked. However, I've got a proposal to make the first weekend a little more interesting.
Here's how the Wardens Bracket Challenge works:
- Pick 10 teams
- You are awarded points equal to that teams seed for every win.
- Most points win.
For example, lets say I pick Texas. Texas wins their first game, I get 7 points. Texas also beats Duke in the second round, I get another 7 points. That would be a total of 14 points for one team. One more example, lets say I also pick Louisville, they win the tournament. L'ville only gets 6 total points. What team would you rather pick? Does everyone get the idea? Pick a few upsets or middle seeds to make a run and you're in business.
What's on the line? (Yes, I will ship this to the winner)
Place your picks in the comments and I will keep track of the winners. Be honest, make your own picks. Have your picks in before the games start on Thursday.
