The Field vs. RPI Top 75

Here it is boys and girls (hopefully a few ladies read this site).  Wins for every team in the field vs the RPI top 75.  I don't know whether the information will be any help when it comes to filling out a bracket, but it can't hurt.

Star-divide

A few notes before we get to the graphs.

  1. This is looking at wins only.  A lot of teams had losing records vs the top 25 and these graphs do not show that.  Initially, I was going to use italics to denote the teams with losing records vs top 25, but that was nuts.  Way too much information without being clearly identified, defeats the purpose of using the pretty graphs.
  2. You will get 5 graphs below.  The first four graphs are broken up by seed.  The first graph will show seeds 1-4, 2nd graph shows seeds 5-8, 3rd graph shows seeds 9-12, and the 4th graph shows seeds 13-16.  The last graph shows total wins vs top 75.
  3. Teams (within each graph) are sorted by most wins vs. top 25.
  4. The number next to each school name refers to the seed in the bracket.
  5. Not all of the graphs have the same scale, so make sure you don't compare graphs.  I don't think I can set the scale in google sheets.

Debating whether or not to match up teams by bracket later this week.  Yes or no?

Great stuff...thanks for the putting the effort in

Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.

Maybe Duke doesn't suck as much as I thought.

Excellent work Warden, when I win the RR t-shirt using this info I’ll give you full props.

WOW.

First thing that jumps out at me is that almost all the teams that havve extremely long bars, just by glancing, are from the Big 10/11…. Very, very surprising… Maybe it wasn’t such a sham that they got so many teams in. Maybe it’s time to show them a little love…

I actually immediately panicked, because knowing KC, I figured some other fan from another school (most likely Mizzou) came over and said something stupid. Then, KC freaked out at him, and said something stupid (no offense, KC, but this really wouldn’t be that extraordinary for you to pull off) and then there was mass hysteria. I would have to ban people, and warn people, and it’d be mass chaos." - SlowDance

A few things I noticed:

1. Illinois has a lot more victories vs top 75 than I expected.

2. Michigan State looks interesting, don’t ignore them.

3. Texas vs. Duke in the 2nd round could be very interesting. RC’s mancrush (Pittman) could eat up Duke, who will be using big white guy Zoubek against him. Duke feasted on the 51-75 teams.

4. Memphis, what can be said? 4 wins vs the top 50. They may be one of the best teams in the nation, but we’ll never be able to know for sure until March unless they change their scheduling.

So if I'm reading this right...

KU has the third most wins against Top 25 teams in the nation? I didn’t realize that.

ALL THE MORE REASON WE"RE GOING TO WIN BACK TO BACK NATIONAL CHAMPIONSHIPS.

No, just among the 1-4 seeds.

If you look at the very last graph, THAT is the one that shows most wins vs. RPI Top 75 of ALL teams in the tourney. KU is 8th.

True,

but the blue is vs Top 25 and we have the 3rd most wins vs top 25 overall.

I need to look at those numbers because it shocks me.

Oh, my bad...

I didn’t read close enough. I thought he was talking about 75. Oops, my bad :D

Is Funk

drunk? I’ve noticed a random comment on almost every post here this afternoon.

Just feeling social?

If you were thinking, you wouldn't have thought that.

He most definitely is.

Good for him, though! :D
