Sherron Collins Graph: 2PTFG%

In an attempt to turn disappointment into knowledge, I took a look at Sherron's two-point shooting.

It's been generally disappointing most of the year (44.7% on the season vs. 53.4% last year, hasn't finished a game above 50% on the season since the Jackson State game) but I wondered if it had been a specific factor in the seven losses.

The answer (rather predictably) is maybe.

He converted two-point attempts at less than his (already low) season average in 6 of the 7 losses but he also covnerted two-point attempts at less than his season average in 7 of the 25 wins.

The graph should you wish to take a gander.

I can't see the graph right now (stupid filtering software)

but I’m looking forward to checking it out. I’ve been thinking about charting the top 5’s shooting percentages throughout the season. Just waiting to find the time.

I just got back from your mom's basement.

So in other words

he should try to be a point guard or a shooting guard but not both? I’d like to see how his 3-point shooting looks overlaid that graph. If you can have that to me by 4, and be sure to include the coversheet. That would be greeeat. mkay?

that thing looks like a seismic graph taken from the pacific rim…or maybe that’s still the nyquil.

Great good Lord Baby Jesus, you're right!!

That is pathetic. He needs to get his act together.

"I log on to RCT after school, and I see the 228 comments on this thread. I actually immediately panicked, because knowing KC, I figured some other fan from another school (most likely Mizzou) came over and said something stupid. Then, KC freaked out at him, and said something stupid (no offense, KC, but this really wouldn’t be that extraordinary for you to pull off) and then there was mass hysteria. I would have to ban people, and warn people, and it’d be mass chaos." - SlowDance

You failed to include a cover sheet

BUT – my suspicion is correct, there are a few games where Collins shot poorly from 2 but shot very well from 3. Weird…

Trust

My biggest issue with Sherron right now is how much does he trust his teammates? When things got tight against Baylor, he tried to do everything by himself. In a pressure-packed NCAA game, is he going to do the same?

I felt like he had gotten better about that towards the end of the Big 12 regular season, but with everything on the line (including his possible NBA draft stock?), will he revert back to a go-it-alone mentality?

I think that's a good point...

when we are at our best it’s when we have a lead and he doesn’t feel like he has to do everything. Now sure there are exceptions like the OU game, but as a whole he can hurt us sometimes when he get’s a touch greedy.

I think the start is key.

When we get off well, Sherron has no problem distributing the ball and playing off the ball. When we let teams burn us early defensively and get down double digits, then he definitely can get over-amped and begin pressing. If we can even stay close early, it should minimize the bad Sherron. Plus, Self has a solid week to get the team ready for the next game. We may lose, but i don’t think the slow, sloppy, uninspired starts against Tech and Baylor will happen again.
