Missouri Valley College at Kansas (added baseball game) 3pm

Jayhawks added a game against Missouri Valley College at 3pm today.

Its gonna be cold and windy out there!

Missouri Valley College is an NAIA school (plays in Bakers league-Heart of America Conference). This should be an easy win even for some of the freshmen and 2nd teamers that will play today.

1st inning

Heere walks
Narodowski singles
Waters triples and scores 2
Elgie sacrifices Waters in to score the third run

2nd inning

Bollman gives up a HR to Jay Walkup.
Wow
thats embarrassing.

Hi bkm,

I had a fan shot open for the game earlier but haven’t been updating it.

KU looks like it will coast in with a win, but certainly not an inspiring day of baseball for the Jayhawks. They are up 9-2 in the 8th inning now. Missouri Valley College is a pretty poor NAIA team, so KU really should have put this game away early. Instead they only have six hits through seven innings.

crappy weather

against an inferior team always makes it tough to play up to high standards. Just don’t lose is the key.

I just got back from your mom's basement.

I was surprised when the game was added yesterday.

It is not a nice day to play ball.

No it isn't

and the weather wasn’t a shock. Even the weathermen knew today was going to be crappy weather.

Plus, with KU just having played five games in six days,

many of which involved use of the bench, I don’t think keeping the players warm was an issue this week.

After tonight’s game with Wichita State (if it is played) the team is on the road for a week. At Arizona State then on to San Diego State. When they get home they face Texas. So maybe Price looked ahead and saw few opportunties to use his bench players in the next two weeks?

too cold

it will be too bad if they go ahead with the Wichita St. game tonight. Theres ZERO chance i will be going to that. The players, umpires and fans dont want to be there and its miserable to play this game in the horrible cold. I really hope they reschedule.

I want them to push it back also.

It is going to be around 15 degrees at playing time, with 10-15 mph winds. I can’t deal with that.

The last time WIchita State played in Lawrence on a nice night 2,100 fans showed up at Hoglund. If they try to play the game tonight there will be maybe 150. That would be a realy shame.

Per Mike Cummings,

as of about 1PM, the game was on.

I still am in denial.

I draw the line at 32 degrees.

32?

Its not going to be 32
its 32 right now.
at 6pm it will be 30
8pm 25 and under

insanity

Yeah, I think it will be around 25 at game time.

I am not going. I always go, but today I am not going.

Somehow, I still expect they will cancel the game. Like I said, I am in denial.

KU 10 - MVC 3

Another very shakey performance by Marcin. He gave up two runs in the top of the 8th. Brunanasky just hit his first home run to put the Hawks up by a 10-3 score.

Off subject probably but...

I wonder if Jay Walkup is any relation to former Wichita State baseball player and current KSN (Wichita) Sports Reporter Casey Walkup….

I don't know, but he is listed as from Tacoma, Washington.
