So...
If Texas loses today, what happens? TCU, Cincy, or SEC rematch for the title?

Cincy isn't holding up their end of the deal right now.
Add in a punt that was just blocked and Pitt is taking over at the 3.
I’ve got to think TCU would end up in the game, there’d be all sorts of problems if they were skipped over for a 1-loss team that was looking for a rematch. If “the season is a play-off”, a team that lost in the last week should be eliminated.
I used to work with an old man that told me- Son, every workplace has a dumbass. If you don't have one where you work, then I'm afraid you're it.
Here’s what I think should happen in that scenario:
Championship: SEC #1 / TCU
Rose: Oregon / Ohio State
Sugar: SEC #2 / Cincy
Fiesta: Nebraska / Boise
Orange: GT / Texas
But I have no idea if that would happen- I could see the Fiesta taking Iowa or Pitt over Boise, maybe Cincy jumping TCU, who knows???

B-ball:
Kentucky is thumping UNC right now as well on CBS.

I wish we had more games like UNC does this year...
they’ve now played Mich. State and UK…I do not want the fact that our team hasn’t been tested much this year to bite us in the ass.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
speaking of which
- ugh, ‘strenth’ is not a freaking word -
what channel is the game on tomorrow?
Me no likey Clint Bowen.
strenth...? did I mispell something somewhere?

Yay for championship saturday
I got asian wings slow cooking, eggrolls and potstuckers be made later. Grubbin on Asian food all day baby
asian food and football??
interesting.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Well I always make wings
So today I decided to go with honey teriyaki wings with that asian flavor kick. Decided to throw some egg rolls in with it and make some potstuckers. So asian fingerfoods. It’s gonna be gooooooooooooooood. Unstoppable. Best chef in the world is me.
I made pumpkin break two nights ago which is also amazing. Unstoppable.
Speaking of wings I could go for some Yacht club right now
Cheap Beer towers, 35 cent wings with an asinine amount of fries, 8,000 TVS and pool tables. What more could you want?
Oh and HOT waitresses of course.
me too
I have pho broth simmering away on the stove. Gonna make a great soup for dinner tonight, in the snow, decorating the Christmas tree, watching the NU-UT game, and (shockingly) drinking some wine.
you guys are making me hungry...
and I’m stuck at home taking care of a baby and a sick wife…nothing in the house to eat either.

They fucking suck.

hahaha
We both typed a yellow sub comment at the same time. Noice.
Doesn’t matter if you have to wait 45 minutes for your sandwhich, its worth it.
I'll try a few different things
I’ve only eaten there three times, getting different things each time and they all sucked, but I’ll keep trying stuff from the menu hoping to find something that doesn’t blow.
I thought you knew that algebra was all razzamatazz. A Globetrotter always saves the good algebra for the final minutes.
Might go do that right now.
I’m hungry and pizza hasn’t really interested me in a few weeks.

I'll have to try more places
I’m small town people…Only had Subway and Quiznos and the local bowling alley before I got to Lawrence…But I’d say Subway and the bowling alley were better than Jimmy John’s….imo
TRUF.
I thought you knew that algebra was all razzamatazz. A Globetrotter always saves the good algebra for the final minutes.
Quiznos
Yello Sub—Quiznos—Subway—Jimmy Johns.
And if you’re in DC, hands-down best is the Celebrity Dely in Falls Church. Run by NYers, staffed by Eastern European mail-order brides. Awful service, best subs ever. You haven’t lived until you’ve had the James Dean, a Philly-style cheesesteak with homemade pastrami: http://www.thecelebritydely.com/
it's amazing
It’s amazing that beef shin bones, knuckles and oxtail can make something so delicious.
I always love being the only white guy in Little Saigon: http://www.thedctraveler.com/2008/09/little-saigon-eden-center/
So
What’s the consensus here, everybody want Alabama to win? I can’t stand the thought of anymore Tebow-loving in the championship game.
On a side note, DC, if you could destroy the Deadheads this week, that’d be much appreciated.
Insanity is just a state of mind.
I hate Nick Saban and the Alabama fanbase more than TIm Tebow...
I’m going Gators all the way today!!!
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Yeah I don't like either team
My aunt and uncle hang out with Tebow and his family a lot so its harder for me to hate him. If you guys find Caryn Clark through my facebook friends or wall, you’ll see Tebow in her picture with her.
Well then...
Guess I’ll be the Lone Ranger today. I hate rooting for either of them, but I honestly believe ‘Bama is the lesser of two evils. Florida doesn’t need any more bandwagon fans.

Well starting the Browns backup running backup might be indicative of a bad season. Ouch.

I'm loving this Cincy Pitt game
It has snow, big plays all around, and is gonna come down to the very end with large ramifications. Flicking over to the Houston game when there is time.
Three close games on right now. Granted, the WVU-Rutgers game is sloppy, but still. Three good finishes coming.

Yeah conference champ saturday is my favorite
Even though KU is never in it (sigh) there are always a plethora of great games with everything on the line. Even my main woman gets excited for them, which is saying a lot.
Holy balls this game is amazing
Pitt scores BOTCHES the extra poing, Cincy driving, down to the 27 with 40 seconds. JUICE
Hell of a Big East game today....
good enough that I won’t refer to them as the Big LEast

Talk about Kansas before the SEC championship...
speculation of Tubberville, Fulmer, Turner Gill and Edsall. Not sure if it means much but speculation is fun.
Also they gave big kudos to Lew for his handling of the situation, said he’s a great administrator…handled it appropriately and will make a good hire.

I'm telling you...

AND we do it on National TV. The ratings would be huge, program would be more on the map, it’d be sweet.
I love that you put Sparky on there
Only because it would complete the entire “Varsity Blues” storyline.

no worries....full plates get in the way
just ask Mangino! ba-dum-dum!
Does it extend through to bowl season?
Florida most dominant program?
So if Florida beats Alabama and then wins the NC (06,08,09Ws), that clearly puts them up with Nebraska (93L, 94,95,97Ws) as the most dominant program over a decade.
But best teams ever?
I think the 95 Huskers would beat them, personally.
I was in a discussion the other day regarding Tommy Frazier v Tebow...
I was of the opinion that had Touchdown Tommy been in an Urban Meyer offense he would have been better than Tebow and Tebow wouldn’t have been nearly the player that Tommy was in the Husker offense of the 90’s.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Agreed.
Frazier was unbelievable.
I thought you knew that algebra was all razzamatazz. A Globetrotter always saves the good algebra for the final minutes.
95-96 championship game
I still have a VHS of the 1996 Fiesta Bowl when Nebraska destroyed Florida and Tommy had that run where 8 of the 11 Florida players tried to tackle him and couldn’t.
Frazier was the real deal
He and Eric Crouch at NU – you can’t ask for better guys to run the option. And Turner Gill of course
remember the Crouch touchdown reception against OU vividly
But then they were owned by Colorado and snuck into the Championship game and got rolled by Miami.
lllllllllllllllllllooooollllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllllll
CHRIS BROWN SMMMMAAASSSSSHHHHHHHH.

No
We got annihilated by Joey Harrington. The last good game he played.

I thought you knew that algebra was all razzamatazz. A Globetrotter always saves the good algebra for the final minutes.
Tebow definitely has better weapons around him
That Huskers team absolutely destroyed people in the trenches, but they didn’t have a bunch of guys with sub- 4.3 speed running routes or taking handoffs like Florida does. Think about how many passing yards Tebow racks up with easy little dump offs that guys end up taking to the house themselves. I don’t remember Frazier having that luxury.

Hypothetically, if Florida gets destroyed here...
Do they really deserve a BCS game? Best win all year was against a very overrated LSU, and second-best win was by 3 over an average Arkansas at home with some dubious refereeing. If Texas is also upset under this scenario, do they both deserve to go?

Super unimpressive kick return.
Puts head down, runs into blockers, shows no vision whatsoever and gets 20 yards.

Chances are it’ll be massive (that’s NOT what she said).
I thought you knew that algebra was all razzamatazz. A Globetrotter always saves the good algebra for the final minutes.
Nah
I’m thinking predictions are fail. I make them and then spend all games hoping I’m right so I can take to the internets and thump my chest and pop my jersey and roar like the manly beast I can pretend to be.
I thought you knew that algebra was all razzamatazz. A Globetrotter always saves the good algebra for the final minutes.
Regardless I think Bama will win
FLorida’s offense has been poo stink against good teams all year. As I write this they look absolutely aweful on their first possession.
Don’t see the gators scoring many points. Their offense (especially in big games) has no creativity, they run the same play over and over (Tebow and a RB running strait into the line for some reason that nets about 2 yards tops).
That's a prediction I can roll wif, yo.
I thought you knew that algebra was all razzamatazz. A Globetrotter always saves the good algebra for the final minutes.
Thes two give up about 20 points per game COMBINED
Hard to see it getting over 40 total, but that’s why they play ’em………
Amazing stat.
Only 4 punts returned AT ALL against Florida this year? Only 2 of those for positive yards? That is a seriously cool stat.
I thought you knew that algebra was all razzamatazz. A Globetrotter always saves the good algebra for the final minutes.
That was their 30th punt.
I thought you knew that algebra was all razzamatazz. A Globetrotter always saves the good algebra for the final minutes.
Ok I may be smoking something crazy... or something
But didn’t Macelroy, bama’s qb, back up “Chubby” Chase Daniel in high school?
Can't help
but with FLorida’s all around talent on D, you’d think it wouldn’t be TOO big a blow. And FLorida just sacked him…
Great start for Bama
bad start for Tebow haters. You just know he’s going to make an EPIC speech at halftime that people will fawn over for years and UF will make a plaque of and hang inside his soon-to-be-retired locker and they’re going to come back and dominate the second half.
I thought you knew that algebra was all razzamatazz. A Globetrotter always saves the good algebra for the final minutes.
that was the recipe last year
‘Bama looked dominant for much of the first 35 minutes, then it just got tilted Florida’s way. Touchdown Timmy was pretty unreal that day.
ajghlgjas
WHY IS MORGAN FREEMAN SO AWESOME
I thought you knew that algebra was all razzamatazz. A Globetrotter always saves the good algebra for the final minutes.
nothing on my end...
players are pretty much in the dark on this and players and recruits are my primary sources on things.
From the sound of things most of the names you are hearing out there are very much in the mix and very realistic options. Reading Missouri and Kansas State boards it appears they’d like to believe that our job is so undesirable that we couldn’t possibly nail down a legitimate candidate. That doesn’t appear to be true. Some of the names thrown around by the slant as VERY real are….
Fulmer
Harbaugh
Tubberville
Fedora
Gill
Nolan Cromwell
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
prefer not to see Cromwell as HC
Part of me would love to see what Gill could do with Kale Pick.
Other than that, I couldn’t happier with that list. Like I said on the Oread Boom Kings thread, I feel like we need a coach with a chip on his shoulder, someone who looks at Bill Self and says, “I can match that success, and here’s how.”
I think Harbaugh fits that bill pretty well. And I think that, after Fulmer and Tubberville’s departures from UT and Auburn, they might bring that same attitude. I think Tubberville might over Fulmer.
Fedora (and Hamlin, if he’s no longer on the list) don’t really give me that feeling.
see I would like Fedora and from all accounts...
he is VERY interested. I also like the Harbaugh thought and in regards to KG’s stepping stone post…I guess I view that like a basketball one and done player.
Usually if a coach moves on to bigger and better…it means you’ve been successful. Just like with a one and done…if they truly are one and done, your team has typically been better because of them. Probably not a great comparison, but it’s how I’m justifying the Harbaugh possibility at the moment.
Agree on Tubberville and Fulmer as well…intriguing possibilities for sure.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
with you on the stepping stone...
So Harbaugh comes here for three or four years, next year we’re 6-6, and pick up a game or two each season after that, maybe beat OU or UT once in year 3 or 4, RichRod gets fired and Harbaugh bolts…
…I can live with that.
And in three or four years, if we’re doing that well (8 to 10 wins in seasons 3 and 4 with a deep bench and good recruits), who doesn’t want that job (other than the obvious OU, UT, LSU, UF, etc. premier coaches)?
yep...agree...
obviously not the ideal, you’d like to get the program to a position where the guy wouldn’t want to leave…but if he does the job should have increased in attractiveness as a result of the success.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Good old Missouri and KState fans
their jealousy never ceases to amuse me. Insane jealousy of our basketball program = NO COACH WILL GO THERE ITS A BASKETBALL SCHOOL

if it's gumbys...
it’s likely thin with a THICK layer of grease on top…not bad pizza though.

Lived in Colby until I was three, used to go out there occasionally when I was growing up.

Wayyyyyy out west
20-30 miles east of the Colorado border….and maybe 10 miles or so south of Nebraska
well....looks like the Tim Tebow era is coming to a close

Whooooooo!!!
Now we’ll only hear about how McCoy and Shipley are roommates during the entire NC game
Wait!!!
Shipley and McCoy are roommates….? No Way, next you are going to try and tell me they like to fish or something crazy like that
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
they may or may not have younger brothers too

god damnit....what is all this madness coming out...
I feel like I don’t even know the real Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley. First roommates, then Fishing, next their dads played in college together and now they have brothers.
Where the hell have these stories been buried for all these years. This is a in game analysts dream.
sarcasm:all of the above
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Did you know that
roommates Colt McCoy and Jordan Shipley are on the same football team? They play football together….crazy huh?!
Fuck a dream
that’s a nightmare.

I dunno...
He kinda reminds me of Pete Carrol- kind of a “rah rah” guy that works better on the college level. I bet he could be a pretty great recruiter, too- he has a pretty solid eye for talent, if the drafts for the Chiefs when he was calling the shots were any indication.
I’d be willing to give him a shot, I think. Kind of an “out of the box” selection.

I agree with that analysis but...
I personally know about 5 people who stopped buying Chiefs season tickets because of that man and they would likely not buy Kansas season tickets for the same reason. Until he wins at least. Winning cures all.

Maybe, but he'd need great coaches around him.
Couldn’t manage a clock to save his life. I’ve always figured college coaches were more in on the game planning than professional, I’d hate to see that with Herm.

fastest way to...
destroy all season ticket sales of the past years

How huge is Nick Saban's head going to be after today?
Sad thing is, that asshole has earned it.

I'd rather Tebow win than Saban....
at least Tebow appears to be a good person on the surface.

Iono man.
Anywhere in the city. I have a car. Can drive. Where are some sweet bars around here?
I thought you knew that algebra was all razzamatazz. A Globetrotter always saves the good algebra for the final minutes.
hmmm....
First, I suppose it’s my duty to recommend against you driving.
Second, where do you live?
I’d say downtown presents some obvious opportunities. The Lodo area. “My Brothers Bar” is a personal favorite, Wynkoop, Falling Rock Taphouse, all good options…
good Irish bar called Scruffy Murphy’s and several others on the same block
Jacksons is a great sports bar and near the ball park, also close to Fado’s another solid Irish Bar.

Oh
I’m not driving tonight but this is also for future reference. Very excellent. I’ll give this list a whirl. Thank you sir!

oh if we are going for future reference...
there is a somewhat out of the way joint downtown you have to try.
“Pints Pub”
It’s an ol’ English Style pub…EXTENSIVE scotch selection and cask style beer brewed on site….good stuff.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Scruffy Murphy's?
Could anything BE more Irish than that? I’m in love.
As I type this I’m wearing a green t-shirt with a dog-and-pony show in england on it. Contradictions all around
Many of the Irish bars try
Paddy O’Quigleys in KC
I used to work with an old man that told me- Son, every workplace has a dumbass. If you don't have one where you work, then I'm afraid you're it.
Oh I have.
I used to go to Micky’s in Overland Park, pissed its closed now. One dollar almost everything monday nights were the best.
A great Irish bar is up around Westin, Mo.
O’Malley’s. Old hideout for bootlegging, the bar is 55 feet below ground. Kick ass place.

I think it's about 30 miles north.
I usually go up there with some buddies once a year. They also have the fake snow with ski slopes there. So we go up there and get smashed at night and then ski the next day.

I used to live in Switzerland
So I’m a pimp skier. I may have to go to this area sometime over break (yes even after college I have a winter break, go figure. Thats what working for a college does)
this guy^^^^^
his life and travels rival the Dos Equis most interesting man in the world…I’m just not sure if I should believe him or not.

Oh believe me
My dad works for Catepillar, hence why I’m originally from Peoria, Illinois and why I have moved so much
I've taken my son skiing there before.
Nasty icy snow.. Hope they’ve improved their snowmaking.

Yes, it's fast and hard.
Not for people to learn how to ski.

How'd I know you'd be the one to comment?
Nice Calvin and Hobbes pic though.
