Temper Tanks Mangino
Jason King covered Kansas football at one time in his career and has been closely following the situation with Mangino as it unfolded. He writes an interesting article discussing how Mangino has been on the hot seat for years due to his temper. A current assistant coach calling him a bully, etc. Sounds like Lew was waiting for the right time and a misstep to make the change he has felt was necessary. All the while though it appears he was setting the pieces in place to make Kansas a far more attractive job to coaches across the country. With some of the names popping up, it appears he succeeded.

Man, I miss Jason King
J. Brady is okay and has admittedly gotten better these past 2 years but Jason King should have a nice career as long as papers don’t go completely belly-up.
Me no likey Clint Bowen.
Eight years ago, Kansas made the right move by hiring Mark Mangino, and now they were making the right move by parting with him.
I think that really sums things up nicely. Very well-written article (although I wish he would have brought up the hand burning allegations).

This article makes it clear that Mangino’s success at the school simply wasn’t sustainable. You cannot create that toxic of an environment for your staff and players and build a big-time program. Period.

Great article
was fine with the firing but now I think I’m happy. Time to move on to bigger(not literally, har har) and better things.
