H/T to ChiefsWolf for the article, this rumor started picking up steam yesterday. This is a big hire for Coach Gill from a recruiting standpoint. - Denver

good hire.
Come on back Mr. Bolton.
Turner Gill is introduced to the Kansas Athletic dept:
Gill, I'm Bill and this is Phil. Gill, I'm Phil and this is Jill. Gil, I'm Jill, you know Bill, Phil...
Is anyone else as pumped as I am for this staff?
All these guys have yet to do anything together or accomplish anything in Lawrence (other than Mitchell…and the fact that Gill pasted KU here when he was playing), but the reputation of all of these guys as good coaches who are great player’s coaches and recruiters is pretty unbelievable for a 5th year head coach at his first BCS gig to pull together.
Now hopefully these guys can get our class locked up (definitely priority number one) and maybe sign some surprises as a bonus.
Also, does this lock up Keeston Terry since Mitchell has already recruited him?

I'm extremely pleased with the staff taking shape...
it’s clear that the University is committed to paying top dollar for a good staff and Turner Gill is surrounding himself with great people. I think when the hire was made we all felt that if he could do that it would put to rest many of the fears regarding his hire.
In terms of Mitchell locking up Terry, not sure…but it can’t hurt. I also think we’ll see him pay major dividends going into the next class especially.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
can it be august now please?

You are echoing the sentiments of most fans...
and nearly EVERY player…anyone associated with Kansas football is ready to get out there and put last year behind us.

As much as I love KU Football.....
March and April might be pretty good times to be a Jayhawk too.
I think we’re decent at another sport too.
There simply is no substitute for experience.
just speculation, but does Mitchell see that the end is near for Zook at Illinois
and wants to preemptively jump ship? couldn’t blame him if he did, though maybe he just sees more upside and can return to one of his first employers.

I think that certainly has to be part of it...
they just got rid of 4 coaches if I’m not mistaken immediately following the season. I think both O and D-Coord were included in that. Kind of a last chance for Zook. You can stay, but you have to make changes…if it doesn’t improve…you are gone, type thing.
I also think that Gill has a lot to sell to a coach in terms of Kansas right now as well.

let's hope that also
translates to recruits …
