Here’s my All-Decade Team:

PG- Sherron Collins
SG- Mario Chalmers
SF- Brandon Rush
PF- Darrell Arthur
C- Darnell Jackson

My methodology: National Championships won.

Seriously though, it’s silly to just assume the ten POYs are the ten best players in the Big 12 for the last decade. Some years have far more competition than others. If Griffin left after his first season, does he not deserve First Team honors, since he wasn’t a POY? Does anybody really think Tony Allen was the best shooting guard in the conference in the last ten years? Heck, I might already take X over him.

"Here are our top priorities: recruit, beat Missouri, recruit, win the North, recruit, win the Big 12, and in most cases if you win the Big 12 then you're playing for a National Championship. And then we're going to recruit."

Yeah

I didn’t have a huge problem with most of the list until the writer explained to me why he placed P.J. Tucker over Craig Brackins. Tucker was solid, no doubt, but he won POY in the year before the Durant-Beasley-Griffin trifecta and after the Wayne Simien Jayhawks. Tucker found the soft spot in the conference and SOMEBODY had to win it.

FWIW, I thought Tony Allen was fine for the First Team. He was really solid and in looking at some of the SGs over the last decade, not a single one JUMPS off the page as a home run.

Also, his decision to include 4 Tigers on his Honorable Mention list struck me as very funny.

A little rudeness and disrespect can elevate a meaningless interaction to a battle of wills and add drama to an otherwise dull day.

Yeah didn't really agree with the list

Honestly wouldn’t put Aldrich on the 1st team yet.

Not an easy list to compile, though.

Which begs the question...

…“why compile it now?”

For one thing, the decade doesn’t technically end until 2011 (ahh, technicalities), but also, basketball by it’s nature spans two years because of schedules, and the cool shit doesn’t really start happening until the later half.

You’re right, though, Slam. There are some people on that blog with a stick up their ass.

I don't know, I like to think that things started out initially with good intentions, but then we just loused it up. Kind of like intelligence. We have this glorious thing that allowed us to survive for millenia and now we use it to write porn film plots involving pterodactyls. Talk about wasting the gift.

See

I totally thought Aldrich was a no-brainer on First Team. The hell do I know, eh?

I think he makes it because there haven't been too many TRUE center types

And maybe Collison is more of a 4 but his offensive output in some games was sick wid it.
