Many of you may have already seen this video posted on KUSports.com, but if you haven't, it's definitely worth checking out. Maybe the best tidbit: he was known as one of the best recruiters in the country before becoming head coach at Buffalo, and he gets a glowing review from his former AD. Also does a good job of setting out how difficult the situation there really was.

So what do you think? Does this video change your thoughts on the hiring at all?

honestly?

What I liked best about it was the B-roll footage of him talking to and interacting with his players. The kids obviously respect him and trust he can make them better; they were always listening. You see our basketball team do that with Coach Self. You NEVER saw that with Mangino.

Not true.

Go to KUSports.com and look at the video clips of Mangino working with Spikes and Hawkinson during fall camp. It’s the same thing.

Wow

You really burned me there. You feel better? Good.

Either refute my point and add value or stfu.

I saw the video

Obviously, it’s an OTL piece, so they had to hammer the race angle. Whatever. That said, if there ever was a high-road-taker, I’d say it’s Gill, based on the interviews with him. He clearly cares about one thing, and one thing only: football wins. That makes me happy.

The guy has a great pedigree, and if he can bring his recruiting prowess to KU, we could be very successful for a long time, regardless of his record at Buffalo. One note about his Buffalo record, as well. Yes, he won 40% of his 50 games there (20-30 overall), but this was the worst job in the FBS. Gill going 20-30 there is probably equivalent to going 35-15 at Central Michigan or some other program that wasn’t the worst in the nation. Just sayin’…

Operation 40-0 is a go. Proceed to target.

I don't know

To move up from worst to not-quite-the worst is a lot easier than to move up from middle-of-the-pack to among-the-best.
