Harbaugh in Contract Negotiations????
I'm not entirely sure how credible the site is... but footballcoachscoop.com is reporting that Harbaugh is the top choice and that he and Kansas are in contract negotiations.
Reportedly, the announcement will be made before Tuesday and the contract with range between $2.5 to $2.75 million a year.
http://www.footballcoachscoop.com/Scoop.html
It seemed coincidental at the time, but Harbaugh appointed his dad to the Stanford staff for the upcoming bowl game. Am I just picking straws to think that he did this for the purpose that he knew he wouldn't coach the game after signing on to become the head coach elsewhere?

Ahhh you beat me to it!!
I don’t know how trustworthy this site is as it seems a few posters on the slant sent them emails about rumors and they ran with it….But they have been right a few times…Strong to Louisville is one
I'll say it again...
…dammit.
I don't know, I like to think that things started out initially with good intentions, but then we just loused it up. Kind of like intelligence. We have this glorious thing that allowed us to survive for millenia and now we use it to write porn film plots involving pterodactyls. Talk about wasting the gift.

I'm really slow to believe anything reported on that site.
If you throw enough shit at the wall, some of it will eventually stick.
I used to work with an old man that told me- Son, every workplace has a dumbass. If you don't have one where you work, then I'm afraid you're it.
The Shiver is a little more reliable.

Soren Petro is saying his sources are saying the KU job is his if he wants it BUT....
there are rumors going around that he’s in the running for the bears job if Lovey Smith is fired at the end of the year.
Not his but it's Harbaughs job if he wants it

oh the drama…I’d be happy with Harbaugh but at the same time I know we’re probably renting him for a while before he moves on to the NFL or otherwise. I guess the hope has to be that he puts us in a good enough position during that time to where we can go out and hire another solid coach in the future.

I can't say who it is
but I have a friend who works with a high up media person with KU and the word is that Harbaugh is unofficially the guy, take that for what you will.

nice
I got no scoop on this one.
But there is a LOT of smoke, his wife is from KC and I do think its a slight step up from Stanford (coaching-wise). This is a home run hire for Lew if it pans out. A lot of the golden domers wanted Harbaugh quite badly so KU football has grown tremendously if one can even utter a sentence like that. Harbaugh may wind up leaving for the NFL one day. Thats life. We need a coach now. We cant always worry about the future.

+1 on that…can’t make decisions based on our own insecurities.

Great way to put it:

Harbaugh's one confused coach
I guess Ray Lewis used him as a practice dummy last week after ran onto the field during the Ravens game.

waiting for him to coach the bowl sets us back to far…can’t happen in my opinion.

Not an ideal situation to be sure
But at least having his name at the top of the letterhead when the assistants go to Grissom’s place is A LOT better than having nothing at all. Especially since it looks like he’s taking a visit to Baton Rouge in January.

that visit doesn't happen if Bill Miller is around...

Lol -
2 Escalades. Lol, that is awesome. It probably went like this:
“Um, yeah, I want $3MM, and um, an Escalade, no, TWO Escalades. Sweet. And a plane…with chicks. A JET plane with chicks. Awesome. "

I love it…I’m envisioning it as if Harbaugh was planning on Lew being like…“well we can’t offer that.”
Instead, Lew says “ok, done.”
Jim says…oh shit…calls his wife…“Honey, we’re moving to Kansas.”

what do you mean...
finals week is the perfect time…plenty of time to surf the interweb in between tests that you will be sorely under prepared for. It’s time to buck up Fetch…test your limits…
as I always say college is about learning how to get the most done in life with the least amount of effort and the most amount of fun.

figured out those last two pretty quickly
It took me quite a while to perfect the first part.

took me 6 years to do my undergrad.
don’t regret a minute of it even if my student loan payments are a touch higher…

It took me five years...
As someone once told me, “graduating from college in four years is equivalent to leaving a really awesome party before 10 p.m.”

I'm definitely taking that advice
you may be right too. I dont have any pesky class to go to or homework to do. Just study for tests
I also plan on being in college for the next decade or so. Good times

Totally true
I graduated a semester late sure, but hey, I had so much fun in college I don’t care. I thought about getting another major so I could stay in two more years. Parents said fine, if you pay for it. Ended that dream like Opurum ending a cornerback’s tackling confidence.
Yeah, the financial aspect of college sucks
I graduated from KU in 4.5 years with 2 degrees (Business Admin and Accounting). I wish I would have stretched that into 5 years. Or 6. Or 8.
But after my Freshman and Sophomore years, paying for KU was all my responsibility. And I did it with no debt and without working during the school year (but no fall breaks in Aspen and no spring breaks in Cancun like they do now).
Who's next?
Colleges have definitely
out paced inflation in their cost. I’m a few years older than Rivet and paid my way through college myself. It wasn’t easy, but it wasn’t horrifically difficult either. Looking at what my son(who’s finishing up his degree this year) and my nephews & nieces have had to pay, I think it would be much harder to do the same thing now.

I was responsible for my spending money
Which meant summers working and a lot of Natty Nights when it came to beer choice…
Same here
I wasn’t allowed to have a job my freshman first semester because my parents wanted me to “adjust” to school, but after that I worked usually two, sometimes three jobs to make money. I also had some scholarships but my family, especially grandparents, contributed heavily to my tuition.

Lew is denying it
KUSports: Perkins: We have noy made a job offer to anyone, relating to the KU football coaching job: http://bit.ly/7UfLBb
whether there is an offer or isn't...
I would expect him to say this. If they aren’t ready to announce it, he’s not going to say an offer has been made.
