Around SBN: The Ten Worst Swings Of The 2011 Season

Guess this is probably why nothing has happened yet. That's a big ticket to pay, I'm guessing Lew and the others are double-checking all claims to make sure they can't lose this one.

I was just about to post that myself.

Yeah, it looks like we have a Dan Hawkins-esque situation to deal with.

I don't know, I like to think that things started out initially with good intentions, but then we just loused it up. Kind of like intelligence. We have this glorious thing that allowed us to survive for millenia and now we use it to write porn film plots involving pterodactyls. Talk about wasting the gift.

Although, if the claims made so far are proven true I have a hard time seeing how the school loses this one.

I used to work with an old man that told me. Son, every workplace has a dumbass, if you don't have one where you work, then I'm afraid you're it.

Explains why they have to give him due process

per his contract before removing him, otherwise his legal situation regarding the money is far stronger. Oread Boom Kings blog has a lot of info on this too.

This is a pretty standard arbitration clause, actually

Companies love these because it takes away an employee’s ability to sue in court. There’s nothing independent about the board- the agreed-upon arbiter will be a KU employee, and they’re aren’t going to give away $6 million if they want to keep their jobs.

I’m guessing that if he is fired, Mangino will be given a nice little settlement in exchange for going away quietly. And honestly, that’s in his best interest- in the hyper-competitive world of D-1 football coaching, you don’t want to take on a litigious reputation if you want to go on to another job (especially with all the other crap that’s come up about him). If he does try to fight this loudly and vigorously, it should tell everyone that he doesn’t think he’ll get another shot somewhere (or he just doesn’t think, period).

RODD TEESING, my arch-nemesis! Give us back our TODD, you rapscallion!
