Little off topic but...
last night in the NBA a couple of former Hawks with some very solid performances. I’m not really an NBA guy but always nice to see.
B Rush – 16 points, played 39 minutes in the contest
M Chalmers – 30 points, 5-9 from 3
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Chalmers has been doing really well
I never understood why he went in the 2nd round, he’s going to have a good long career.

Yeah Rush seems to be fitting in well too
If he can improve on his ability to attack the rim he’ll get even better
Who shows up tonight....
TODD or RODD?

Vegas is saying there 3-2 odds that RODD runs the show tonight and 1-10 odds that TODD shows up and B****slaps the Horns.
So I have $20 on RODD and $30 on TODD. That way, if RODD’s in the game, I break even, but if TODD shows up, I’ll make $300.

For some unknown reason, ABC has decided that Washington, DC should be watching the Oregon-Arizona game instead of the KU-UT game. So I’ll be hanging out here on the OGT and watching the Nebraska-KSU game on ESPN.

basketball...
There’s something about North Carolina. Syracuse went on a 22-1 run yesterday? I guess when you play shoddy defense and your shots aren’t falling, you end up looking like a D2 team.
Who knew?!
Won’t be the last time poor defense dooms that team. I’m excited for them to be not so great this year.

Carolina is great in the frontcourt
but their guard play is spotty, and that can lead to some bad things. Duke is going to have some of the same problems. A reason we need someone to step up and be competent in relief of Sherron at the point.

Duke was REALLY unimpressive
in the game I saw this week. They took midrange jumper after jumper, didn’t try to drive or pound it into the post. When they’re hot, they’ll light people up, but man, hardcore, physical defense will end them.

Just had an interesting convo with a former player...
who claims he had a very good relationship with Mangino but is also close with several players on the team. His thoughts…
- Mangino has definitely lost this team, did a while back and that’s why the losses have piled up. What little respect guys had for him is finally out the window and if a change isn’t made…recruiting is about to go downhill as will the program. Thinks Lew knows this and is trying to make a change not because he want’s “his own guy” but because he knows how bad things are.
- Says he understands guys aren’t talking and being respectful but behind closed doors there might be 2 or 3 guys that he really believes like Mangino.
-Says he witnessed everything that’s been discussed, spitting in the face as well and just thinks Coach needs to seek counseling.
-Says often times the things used against guys were situations and circumstances that plqyers had gone to him with and confided in him. Then he throws it back in their face in front of everybody.

It seems like most of the ESPN/ABC Commentary has...
been less about KU and more about Mangino being way over the line. If a move is made and we make a good hire. We may step back but it could be a small step or who knows, a step forward.
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
Yes, the fear of many
seems to be that we will immediately fall back into the worst depths of the Terry Allen era. Lew did crank up MM’s salary from 600K to 2.3M and raise a bunch of money for facilities and support staff. We’re not getting Urban Meyer away from Florida, but I think Perkins could find a solid coach for that kind of money.
If of course, MM is moved out. Tonight’s game is going to be surreal.

I'm a big fan.
In retrospect, he probably should have gone to college for a year. Not so much because it would have developed his game, but more because it would have increased his marketability. He would’ve been a 20 ppg or so scorer, and people love those kinds of guys in college.
Without college, a lot of people write him off as a thug, and even though he might be one of the 15 or so most talented players in the NBA, the guy doesn’t have any endorsements that I can think of.

Seems like there's been a lot of bad weekends in college football this year
I think it’s because the best teams seem to be spread out conference-wise. In the past, Florida going through the SEC regular season undefeated would mean beating several top 25 teams- not just 1. Same with Texas in the Big 12.
Really, the only intriguing games I see for the rest of the season are Pitt/ Cincy and the SEC title game. I guess all we can do now is hope 5 teams end up undefeated, so we can have a great slate of bowl games. Just do us a favor and don’t put TCU/ Boise together- they played eachother last year. Let them have their chances against the big boys, please!

I Don't Understand it at all.
What could he get at ND that he can’t get at OU? He hasn’t exactly been recruiting too many future scholars at Oklahoma. How would he deal with ND’s academic standards?
I mean, when they aren’t destroyed by injuries, they’re also on national tv every week, have just as good (if not better facilities), it’s easier to recruit to OU.
How much cash could ND really throw at him above what OU could pay to put up with the hassles of moving, and the more difficult path to success?
My theory on this: Stoops’ agent is spreading this rumor to get some leverage to get his client a bit more cash from Oklahoma.
