Neither Releford nor Little will play tomorrow night, due to a weird NCAA rule (is there another kind?) that prevents returning players from red-shirting if they participate in exhibition games.

Self also said that he has not ruled out red-shirting an incoming player or players.

Stupid rule...

can’t play in an exhibition game? What the hell.

yea HCBS said it best "screwy"

I really think releford could be a solid starter in a year or two. I like the kid.

absolutely...

I’m thinking a career resembling that of Darnell Jackson maybe

Possibility of Little redshirting suprises me.

Senior year, contributed last year, and should have been healthy by now.

I used to work with an old man that told me. Son, every workplace has a dumbass, if you don't have one where you work, then I'm afraid you're it.

Yea, that seems a bit pointless.

He’s supposed to be healthy and there’s no particular upside in him sitting out a year. Releford or Elijah Johnson(who’s had a lot of injury problems) make more sense, though Travis has looked good so far.

I think I saw a quote from Little..

Where he said he’s about “90 percent.” If he’s serious about having a future in professional basketball, it might make sense for him to sit out, get completely healthy, and be in a more featured role next year.

Could help his college numbers, but another year in college makes him a year older.

NBA teams generally love the young guys. He won’t be too old to play, but his draft stock would be hurt I’d think.

professional doesn't necessarily

mean NBA. Could make an amazing living playing overseas.

I actually disagree

I think red-shirting Little makes a lot of sense. He won’t get huge minutes this year and may have a chance to contribute next year. He probably wouldn’t graduate from kansas this year anyway. I would be surprised if he was able to meet all the requirements for his degree at Kansas in two years, with two years of juco credit.

Another thing I've noticed...

Is that Self continues to be extremely vague about Brady Morningstar’s future with the team. Every time I’ve heard him mention Brady, there’s always been the qualifier “IF he gets to rejoin the team next semester.”

If things are going well by that time, I wouldn’t be shocked at all if Brady is quietly tossed aside. No need to screw up team chemistry for a guy that really back-stabbed his coach and embarrassed the program nationally.

Either way, I will be extremely surprised if Morningstar ends up playing any meaningful minutes for the team this year.

Also, I think the possibility of redshirting Little means that HCBS is happy with the progress Marcus Morris has made in transitioning to the 3.

As dumb as that rule is, at least we’ll be able to know right off the bat who isn’t going to be playing this year!

I'd be surprised

if they took away Brady’s scholarship or booted him off the team, but I completely agree KGRTC that Morningstar will see very little floor time this year.

how old is the guy this year?

27-28

where has the time gone...

a 33 year old redshirt junior serving a semester suspension while his son wraps up 7th grade. Sounds like an strange episode of VH1’s behind the music.

So this leaves us with likely the following two-deep:

Sherron – CJ
Tyshawn – Tyrel
Xavier – Marcus
Robinson – Markief
Cole – Withey

And then Elijah either red-shirts or gets minutes where he can.
