As we learned last week games aren't played on paper unfortunately.  If they were you could expect the Kansas offense to move the ball better than the Oklahoma offense.  Problem is the Sooner offensive unit has been tested this season where the Kansas one really hasn't.  The other problem is that the Sooner D is a little bit scary in case anyone noticed.  #4 in the country in sacks and TFL's, #8 overall and #3 scoring defense as well.

This game will test Kansas offensive line, Kansas running game and how crisp Todd Reesing really can be.  Sure there are reasons to say Kansas can win this one and sure they can, but make no mistake it will take one hell of an effort.  I just hope they get fired up for this one because if you can't get up for OU coming into your stadium then you've got problems.

Must win in order to win the Big 12 North

There’s just something about this years team that gives me a special feeling, like they are gonna have some magic, like they have been saving something for this ever tough second half of the season.

I hope you're right

about the team saving something, because I agree that we almost certainly must win this game to win the Big 12 North. I suppose there’s a chance we could win some convoluted tiebreaker at 4-4, or beat T-Tech or Texas on the road, but it ain’t likely.

Coaching needs to be criticized

Last in the conference in penalty yards!?? Almost last in the nation too.

That’s coaching. That’s on Mangino. That sucks.

it's strange....

because in 2007 if I recall we were one of the least penalized and had excellent special teams. We haven’t been able to get back to that level since.

That stat is wrong...

We have 36 penalties for 288 yards, which averages out to 6 for 48 yards per game, whichis 30th in the country and I believe 1st in the Big XII.

Oklahoma, however, is the worst in the nation.

I've been skeptical on the accuracy of statsheet for football...

thanks for confirming my suspicions….statsheet seems to be great for basketball but not so much for the football side of things.

actually...

the stats were accurate through 5 games, but statsheet ranks teams higher for having more penalty yards. Basically being ranked last in the conference in this instance meant we were the best. Stupid way of doing things but again statsheet has a ways to go in it’s football tracking.

Can someone explain to me...

Why “turnover margin” is a fraction? Is that takeaways/giveaways? But wouldn’t that be more of a ratio than a margin?

Seems like a pure margin is a more informative stat- a team could have a massive ratio but not be particularly effective at creating turnovers, and vice versa.

Maybe I’m just crabby because I have to go to a wedding during the game on Saturday. Stupid people having successful, fulfilling relationships.

it's an average of the turnover margin...

if that makes sense? So Kansas is likely +3 in turnover margin or +.5 per game. Now that you mention it, it does seem like a strange way to track it but for whatever reason that’s what the NCAA website lists.

TO's/g

Averaging the TO margin keeps the numbers consistent throughout the season (vs an ever increasing/decreasing #) and useful for comparing teams when they haven’t played the same number of games.

Damn I really want to win this game

first big game I’ll have gone to since I was in school and I just want us to be in it until the end.
