Kansas Football Adds One More Reciever
This weekend Kansas played host to a handful of recruits as they work toward rounding out the 2009 class and today they moved one step closer to that goal. The Jayhawkslant is reporting that Kansas has picked up it's first commitment following the weekend from 3 star receiving prospect DJ Beshears.
According to rivals Beshears originally committed to Gene Chizik and the Iowa State Cyclones but following the departure of Chizik began looking around. After taking his official this weekend to Kansas it was time to make the change and once again end his recruitment.
During his senior season DJ was on the recieving end for 88 catches totaling 1450 yards and 21 touchdowns. He is the third reciever in the class but the first slot type reciever for the 2009 group. If you have a chance to watch his film he has great game speed, seems to have spent a good amount of time in the spread and looks to have excellent field vision.
The addition of Beshears brings the 2009 Kansas football recruiting class up to 23 known commitments and with only a limited number of spots remaining the next few weeks will continue to be very fast paced and entertaining as we get closer to signing day.

The staff keeps doing a great job.
A slot like receiver at 5’’9, 185. He must have some real great speed with that small size, similar to Daymond Patterson. We now have 3 receivers coming in and all seem to be great prospects with different size and ability.
As long as their potential is real, in a few years we could have 6’’4 and 6’’5 McGriff and Omigie on the outside, with the speedster Beshears in the slot. It’s fun to dream of the possibilities. Obviously, though, not all prospects work out so if we can get 2 of these guys to be major contributors then we should be happy.
Couldn’t find highlights of him on his rivals page, would be anxious to see some tape if there is a link anywhere.
Oh yeah, one more thing that will make most happy. This signing pushes us out of a tie for #31 rivals ranking in recruiting and into sole possession of that #31 spot.
The bigger news for KU fans, is that we are now one spot ahead of Mizzou as they have one less commitment than us and .10 fewer average stars.
While we all know that these rankings are pretty arbitrary, because Mangino and staff have always been able to come up with diamonds in the rough and players they can coach into better players than what they were ranked; this is still great to have the better players on paper to turn into elite players.
A better scale for us to look at is that this signing pushes into # 5 recruiting class of the Big 12. Next stop, take over Nebraska (might be out of reach)
1.TX
2.OU
3.TAMU
4.NU
5.KU
6.Misery
It’s not over so we could lose this spot, but I’m confident we will stay in this position and have our best recruiting class ever.

Note
I just went back and was looking at some more stuff and realized that the Rankings I was referring to didn’t have this signing in their rankings so we were at this spot at some point and could maybe move higher after it. It might not be significant enough but we’ll see. I’ll try to keep looking and update when it does.

thanks for the rundown...
I’ll try to track down the highlight tape I found and post a link tomorrow
Some people are like Slinkies...not really good for anything but they make you smile when pushed down the stairs.
