Hawk Talk...Week 4 Pregame
A look at news and notes about the Jayhawks and Upcoming opponents...
The Good Guys...

- Exciting news in our second sell out of the year against a ho hum opponent...some props to fans for supporting the team after a hard fought loss.
- Might we see Dexton Fields Return to the field.
- Feature on potential impact transfer Brad Thorson.
- Column on the nations leading receiver Kerry Meier.
- Marcus Herford looks to get back on track.
- KC Star talks about improving the running game.
- A Piece on the "Beef" Quigley...I think it's time we see more of this guy earlier.
- A quick look at the true freshman who have seen the field this year.
- KC Star game preview.
The Bad Guys...
- A look at the game and the opponent
- A familiar face will take the field at Memorial Stadium in everyones favorite car salesman Rhett Bomar.
- A look at how the Sam Houston State football team is dealing with the Hurricane Ike.
My thoughts...This shouldn't even be a contest. Go in, get it done, button it up for conference play, and get out healthy. Next up the Iowa State Cyclones. Things to work on and some of these are getting repetitive but...running game, pass rush, kick return and offensive line play. Expect another big game from Reesing and look for the linebackers specifically Rivera and Mortensen to redeem themselves after last weeks mediocre performance.
Sidenotes and Tidbits...
- A couple former Kansas corners played big last Sunday.
- Heavily recruited basketball prep Xavier Henry cancels this weekends visit...but at the tail end of this article we do have John Wall and Thomas Robinson on campus for visits.
- Mario Chalmers is in town for the ring ceremony this weekend and he talks about his recent experience.
- Full list of supplemental notes released by the athletic dept. but here are some highlights...
A Kansas Win Would...
• Give KU 12 straight home wins. The school record is 15 consecutive from 1908-10.
• Make KU 21-2 in its last 23 home games.
A Kansas Loss Would...
• Be less good than a win.(This one's my personal favorite)
Individual
• Reesing (4,702) needs 431 passing yards to pass David Jaynes (5,132) for third on the KU career passing yardage list.
• Reesing (13) needs one 200-yard passing game for sole possession of most career 200-yard passing games (currently tied with Bill Whittemore).
Home Winning Streaks...
Entering this week only five schools have posted double-digit home field winning streaks. Here is a look at those schools:
1. Oklahoma 19
2. Wisconsin 16
3. Boise State 15
4. BYU 14
5. Kansas 11

Tonight
I think the KUSports.com podcast the other night nailed it. The dream scenario for tonight would be:
Offensive Player of the Week: Quigley
Defensive Player of the Week: Laptad
Special Teams Player of the Week: Hereford
Scout Team Player of the Week: Pick

I could handle that...
Quigley would mean the running game is getting on track, laptad would mean we are getting a pass rush and Hereford would mean our kick return team might be back on track.
-Chuck Norris recently had the idea to sell his urine as a canned beverage. We know this beverage as Red Bull.
